What's new

NEW Leather mod sheath / sleeve GIVEAWAY !!! oooohhh page 10

right Thursday...

has been a busy day

we have been today at a regular customer, working in the grounds one job was taking out a dead tree and stump, as per usual this was sprung on us at the last minute so we had no saws and only one spade due the fact we thought we were doing other work so we had to use the old methods....

as i speak on the dvd tonight is "snatch" the best film to watch after a hard day....

Turkish: Tom! What's that?
Tommy: It's me belt, Turkish.
Turkish: No, Tommy, there's a gun in your trousers. What is a gun doing in your trousers?
Tommy: It's for protection!
Turkish: Protection from what? Zee Germans?

so the old ways are spade, winch and a 2-tonne landrover....

so you dig around

IMG_2054.JPG

then pull the bugger out, as you can see it chucked it down also...

IMG_2055.JPG

so, on with the build

i have put a snap clasp for the securing strap front and back this can be removed, also punched the hole for the rivets and loosely put them in place.

IMG_2050.JPG

I have also added spacers the top of the leather so the mod will slip in more easier.

IMG_2059.JPG

on the back is the belt hoop and the bar of leather across the top will reinforce the opening.

the front is now glued to the back

IMG_2060.JPG

this is tiger thread which i will use to sew the holder together

all that needs to be done is the holes drilled, sewed up, stained, waxed, burnished.

not much then..........

its cold tonight dam its cold....

tonight the stove is not fired up in the workshop so its even colder,

on the dvd tonight "Is the hunt for Red October" classic film

so I've drilled the holes and now the oil-based dye is going on you can use an alcohol-based but it doesn't soak in as well

IMG_2061.JPG

when its applied it soaks in and will harden the leather you will notice the edges have been sanded flat but the bevel hasn't been done as yet

IMG_2062.JPG

the colour is English bridle it goes on dark and it stains like a bitch but it will lighten.

IMG_2063.JPG

the stain has to wear off my hands, Im not to concerned iIlook like I smoke 50 a day

IMG_2064.JPG

all stained up it will need a buff and wax.and sewing up the rivets hammering down you will notice the cut outs this is so you can pull the mod out of the case...

more updates sunday the big push over the top.

ok Sunday

Christmas shopping ho ho ho today

after this yearly pain came home to finish the mod case

sewing all the holes, i like sewing its very therapeutic. oddly I also like mopping floors:yahoo:

Tonight on the dvd is House MD season 5 disc 6 a lot of people in the NHS like House, in fact a lot of people in the NHS think they are House....

you can see I am using 2 needles these are blunt leather needles and the stitch is a basic saddle stitch

IMG_2077.JPG

now after this is done the stitch is doubled back cut and burnt flat with a lighter to secure it

IMG_2078.JPG

rivets hammered, the strap is fitted and more wax is applied. I can't for the life of me find my wax I normally use, this happens a lot in the workshop I have a tendency not to throw anything away then get all peeved about the amount of stuff and chuck it all away knowing full well I will need it...

the leather will need more wax to give it a smoother look this will be down to the new owner....

this is fitted on the belt. I am not a large person so it looks huge in the picture. I have also put my asmodus mod and small tank in the holster it works quite well even though the case is designed for this mod. it is also away from the body so with a tank fitted I do not see it will stick in you.

now what would you charge hmmmm it has took about a day to make if I really pushed the boat out and had patterns perhaps half a day if it was fully mechanized maybe a couple of hours but hang on cowboys this is a one off there isn't another in existence so what would you charge ?

This is always a tricky thing, I work with a young nurse he is a brilliant cake maker I mean above ace of cake standards but when littleTommy has his cake delivered, some people moan as they can get it cheaper from Tesco's. then they should have gone to tescos really.

so this mod case is complete the next will be a different design which I will post in a shortened version on here.
