This is amazing! I can't wait to get my grubby mitts on it. Some excellent workmanship there. [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7]

now the 2 samples are done and being tried I will do my original post of a leather sleeve this will be made out of Nappa leather.

Nappa leather is goat hide its super soft and about 0.6mm thick or about 1/16 in old money the hide I have is in black I have used this before the last job I did was to cover a dash in it, have a gander...

Nappa should make a nice tight fitting sleeve but, and there is a but. It is by design not has hard wearing as the average cow hide and the process of dyeing and finishing the leather is completely different to veg tanned hide but we will see how we go. Again I will add it here and I may well give a couple of samples to apes to test, when and how I will divulge in due course, and to add a twist one will be for the lady apes on POTV.....

so stay tuned for updates, about leather, life in general and of course DVD films....

The big sleeve problem

the last couple of days I've been here....

IMG_2088.JPG

this is a very big near forest size woodland I have the (dis) pleasure of maintaining it. we have been unblocking the pipes that go under the track from various streams. by quad bike, it takes about 35 mins to get into the middle of it. You are sitting there with no one about for miles and then Mrs vapesmarter phones me to tell me we need milk ain't modern technology grand.

anyway postie has been today and delivered this

IMG_2107.JPG

this is Nappa leather aka goat hide its super soft barrel dyed and tanned, i will be using a small piece just above Asia on the picture

oh before I forget, I am watching Game of thrones Season six "Holddor Holddor" etc on the dvd

I'm using the form from the last case for the sleeve. I was going to seal the bottom with leather so I would make a pocket but Battery Venting came to mind. so a sleeve it is .

IMG_2108.JPG

the thing i have in mind is two methods sew the top to make a nice edge and glue the bottom this is to test the durability of the edges

IMG_2109.JPG

nappa is easy to sew up (he says)

IMG_2110.JPG

this is the case inside out top is sawed up bottom and center is glued i will saw the center up but leave the bottom glued to see how it tests (pre glued, i must say that bottom edge is on the wonk)

more soon this week 3 days and night of work coming up so it will be the weekend...........

Day off today after a very busy up high week.

we teamed up with a buddy of mine to take down this little beauty its a cedar tree that has a rot starting (possible Phytophthora root rot) being a little on the tall side and 4ft across at the base the only way is up.

IMG_2116.PNG

im not at all good at heights off a ladder but tree wise im ok after a while

IMG_2115.PNG

the legging and boots are class 1 chainsaw trousers Question most asked "do those stop the saw cutting you" Answer "they slow it down a bit"

IMG_2113.JPG

this saw we call "Wayne" because we know a lovely lad who has quite a fierce attitude to life. its a 28" bar, big saws are easier to use than the small branchers injury wise....

tonight on the dvd is star trek beyond not bad not as good as the first (well maybe)

the case sleeve i have now sewed up with a running stitch

IMG_2119.JPG

Im ok with it, Its not bad, next sleeve is for a mech mod tube, im trying different things with the sleeves in general

with the sleeve fitted you can still use the mod the display on the cube is on the top and the leather being not to tight means you can use the fire bar on the side.

comments and feedback fellow apes as I'm undecided

Personally I like the contrasting thread colour. Makes it look really posh. ;)
