NHS Covid-19 app

what’s the need for checking in places anyway, if it’s already doing it’s bluetooth thing? the scottish one doesn’t have a scanner.

Will that log that you've left the place you scanned into?

The app is disabled, there would be no Bluetooth handshake between your device and another device. Of course anyone can turn the app off, whether they've left the premises or not, and even if you have no handshake on your device Joe or Jane Bloggs might not be the using the app anyway and signed in by hand. It's probably a one size fits all, you visit a place, someone flags up as positive, all who visited that day will be advised to isolate, if we're talking hospitality, elsewhere, who knows. Where did you visit, if you're able to say? You might like to contact the developer, yours is a very valid query.

To be fair it's no different to every other software program that's ever been released. It's not until they release it that they start discovering all the bugs and have to then fix them and release new upgrades.

Only just seen that, you have "Cancel this check in" at the bottom, is that a log out job?
No.
Once you've checked in that screen comes up.
Then press home and it goes back to the front screen and there's no way to get back.
I'm presuming thats there just in case you scan but maybe dont get a seat or something.

Just to add i tried scanning it again see if that was the way to log out but it just logged me in again.

If any of these apps does use gps location data I'd be extremely surprised because privacy campaigners would all be up in arms about peoples movements being tracked.

I'm sure the technology does exist to track any handset as it moves from one phone mast to another but the police probably have to jump through a number of hoops to be allowed to.
