What's new

Oh my goodness, it's like another language!

Fairly overwhelmed by everybody's time this evening. I can assure you it is sincerely appreciated.

I am am currently looking over everybody's links, watching you tube videos and yes... Still writing notes

im not sure of this makes sense, but I feel that if I have to research and fail with the setup on occasion until I get there, it's almost like I'm being serious about getting rid of my current unhealthy version of vaping

:welcome1:
I think if your diving in head first VV/VW is what you need to be looking at. once you have found that setting that works for you its happy days. but dont get me started on the semi rotary custard valve bloody fiddly bugger that thing is :)

I was in a similar boat a few months ago, where money wasn't a huge issue. All advice above is useful, and good, I would say start with a reasonable mod, vamo is popular, I prefer my MVP v2 but I dont care if I look like a tool vaping on a box mod :D I like being able to charge directly, not have to change batteries and mess around with too much. Protanks are a winner...plus if you wanted to start rebuilding the option is there to practice. I try lots of flavours of juice. There are so many out there, and they genuinely dont have to be tobacco flavoured to kill the need for cigarettes. I started there and quickly went onto fruity vapes. But check, and find what you like :)

I will however offer one tip, whatever you do, however you vape, remember...if the semi rotary custard valve is not flanged to the direct flow grumple top cap, then bad things happen. BAD THINGS! You have been warned.

Oh, and try Smoke Rainbow for 1ml samples - it means you can try a lot of different juices from well-regarded suppliers without breaking the bank. Or get yourself into a B&M store and try some different flavours. And don't assume that tobacco juices will taste just like a fag, or that your tastes in food and your tastes in juices will necessarily be the same. For example, I'm not a fan at all of aniseed, yet in e-juices I rather like it. http://www.smokerainbow.com/ Remember as well that as you recover from the stinkies, your taste buds will recover and change, and your tastes may change because of that.

There's a whoretonne of jargon, and acronyms that seem to be excuses for giving things long names, so don't feel dumb. It's the reason most places do starter kits so you can make one purchase and go (although usually that's more expensive and less optimal than 'jigsawing' your own kit from individual bits.

Essentially, it's just two parts: the top bit to hold juice, and the bottom bit to provide power.

For the top bit, there's a bajillionty different options. Generally speaking, anything that says it's rebuildable and replaceable is a good call (rebuildable meaning you can take it apart and make the wire and wick parts yourself, dirt cheap and easier than you think, but a bit daunting at first), and replaceable means you can take out the 'head' (holds the wick and wire parts) and insert a new pre-built head.

Bottom bit, you essentially have a choice between a basic 'stick' like an ego style (battery screws into the top bit and just goes), fancier 'sticks' that can change voltage to make it give more/less power, mods (like the fancy stick, but bigger and has a removable rechargeable battery and usually shmancy lights), and mech mods (the removable battery version of the plain stick, but which you can tweak once you know what you're doing). Plain non-variable 'stick' ones tend to be dirt cheap and idiot proof, either of the middle two give you room to fiddle and get to grips with voltage/resistance and such fun, and the mechanical mods tend to be more aimed at "advanced vapers" so probably best ignored at first.

Don't be afraid to get a cheap option. You will want to buy stuff once you learn your tastes, so it's fairly impossible to go from nothing to perfect in one purchase.

And yeah, juice is the real biggie. Many many samples is a motto to live by: try everything you can, even if it doesn't sound like something you'd like, and see what tastes good.

YouTube and asking questions will be well worth your time. I'd say if you are brave, don't start with the ego or smaller devices as they will be gathering dust quite soon. If i can give you some advice that I could have done with, Research batteries 18650 and 18350. These are what you'll need to run your lightsaber. Get a good charger like the nitecore. Its very easy to be tempted with kits that include inferior batts and charger. Don't do it, you'll have to replace them sooner rather than later. The rest will come so get asking. Everyone will be happy to help.

Again, thanks to you all for your time.

I have some sort of idea of what may be the way forward, as long as I don't end up with no power, no liquid, or no flux capacitor.

Ill try and put together an idea of what I'm attempting to go for and then you can all say, no, not that way up!

having said that, all advice and opinion still gratefully received

Not device-specific advice but always have spare batteries available for whatever kit you end up choosing. Nothing more depressing for a vaper than a flat battery with no spare....

hello Sean1974 and welcome to the planet - this can all be very confusing but like everyone says if you see something you like but you're not sure ask on here i went slightly wrong but also right at the start I went with cigalikes like most people but these can be expensive to keep buying cartridges for - then I updraged to an evod style kit from jacvapour a vgo2 not a bad kit but the threading is whats called 808d1 its not very common so accessories tanks etc are hard to find - I would recommend checking out an evod kit such as this one http://myepack.co.uk/kits/evod-starter-kit-ss-808.html - if you want to jump into variable voltage there are some good ego style batteries these are the ones about the size of a marker pen such as the itaste vv v3.0 the vision spinner - http://www.vapeescape.co.uk/Vaping-Spares/Batteries--Passthroughs/Vision-Spinner-1300.html - ego twist http://www.vapercaper.co.uk/products/ego-winder-vv-starter-kit - if you feel you want a baby step into variable voltage and variable wattage I have a brand new innokin itaste vv v3.0 for sale in the classifieds section - if however you want to go up to the lightsaber type I would reccomend the itaste svd kit from my epack http://myepack.co.uk/itaste-svd-express-full-kit.html - or the sigelei Zmax which I have myself and upon first look I said hmm looks like yoda's lightsaber http://www.smokecloud.co.uk/sigelei-zmax-v3 - anyway sorry for rambling just a few links and things for you to think about and I hope yopu find what you're looking for don't worry too much about terminology if you buy something and dont quite understand it upon delivery you can ask the vendor or just come here and ask they're a friendly bunch of guys and girls they hardly ever bite and they have been most helpful to me - there is no such thing as a stupid question - only stupid answers - Happy Vaping :assassin::yoda::assassin:

Welcome to the world of vaping, and so your journey begins.
To add my thoughts, to the sound advice already given.
Personally I would start with something like this, http://myepack.co.uk/kits/evod-starter-kit-ss-808.html It gives you something small enough to carry about all day, and a spare to use while one is charging.
Then move onto something like this http://myepack.co.uk/mods/itaste-svd.html and have it for home use like most people, as these things are big. And lugging them around all-day with spare batteries can be a pain.
The evod kit is 14mm by 140mm or there about. While the SVD mod is more like 25mm by 230mm, at full size.
