What's new

Oh my goodness, it's like another language!

Welcome to the planet. It is a steep learning curve at first and yes we do all speak a different language but you'll be amazed how quickly you pick it up. Never be worried about asking anything-as you've noticed we are a very friendly bunch and we were all beginners once so we all know what it's like. At the end of the day there is no best equipment because we are all different, it's more a case of finding what works best for you. Some folks like to fiddle and and happy to rebuild, others just want to fill up and go. So a lot depends on how much fiddling you any to do. If you see something that you particularly like to look of just ask and you can bet at least some of us will have used it and will be able to tell you the pros and cons. Welcome to your new hobby :)

Hi, This is my first post as I'm pretty new too. 5 weeks ago I felt a lot like you, I'd been smoking for 21 years, hadn't had much success with the cig a likes and then a friend showed me her strange shiney vapour emitting object!
I felt the same way about spending some cash, I just wanted to give myself the best chance possible of getting off the analogues, (see, 5 weeks and I've picked up some of the lingo!).
I started out with a deluxe kit I picked up from Vape Escape, (Vision 1000 Ultimate), based on the fact it seemed to have everything I needed to start out, good reviews, and I must admit the fact it was the most expensive kit they offered, so in my mind it must be the best one. It was indeed a good place to start, pretty simple to set up and worked straight out of the box. In the 5 weeks since I haven't touched another cigarette, and really have no interest in doing so. In retrospect would I buy it again - maybe, maybe not. What I hadn't really realised was the fact that the bit I was paying most for was the batteries as they are the large size with the longest vaping time. Whilst the increased vaping time is a bonus, I've discovered i prefer a slightly smaller battery, especially for carrying out and about. the optimum size for me seems to be about 650 to make a nice size unit. The rest of the kit however was great. I personally think I would have got confused starting out with the variable voltage stuff, the ego batteries have a standard setting and a turbo boost function, which works well enough for my current purposes. My top tip would be to make sure you have plenty of spares, batteries to carry around with you and a few spare clearomisers or tanks to rotate, whilst cleaning, swopping flavours etc. I probably still carry around more gear than I need to, but whislt I'm gaining confidence with the new (to me) technology, it takes away the fear of being without my pv and being tempted back to the analogues. There seems to be a disorder that I have heard referred to as VAD (Vaping Aquisition Disorder), where no matter what you start out with, you will develop a magpie like eye for shiny new things, which seems to happen to everyone, so no matter what you get, you will keep buying! In a nutshell, a good quality basic kit, with a few spares and a few liquids worked for me and I would reccomend it as a good place to start, without the risk of getting too bamboozeled and still enjoying vaping and the fun of being able to add new kit as you work out the best set up for you. Hope this helps and good luck!

Well done for starting and you are on the way to a better health for not only you but all around you. Why wait for a new year resolution in Jan, start now and change your life. There are lots of companies out there but one thing you must do is make sure they are selling top quality ingredients, I have had so many emails from people telling me about black or yellow liquids with poor quality nicotine and flavour so I have made in my mission to do only the very best, UK nicotine, clear and not Chinese.I would be wary of coloured liquids but that is simply my findings in this industry. Keep up the change x

I've used chinese nicotine without any issues what so ever. There are good suppliers out there if people know where to look. In the two years I have been vaping, I have never come across a black e-liquid or nicotine. Liquids do slightly colour as well as plain nic base due to the degradation of the nicotine anyways. But black? Never.

@Classikool and @Vapouriz as you are both vendors waiting for a vendor status, please refrain from posting until you have your vendor status. Thanks!

OK

Here goes, attempting to speak the lingo and ask q's at the same time

please be patient, i may be talking b&*^cks (its been known)

For a full set up, and from the bottom up I need to get..

rechargeable batteries
18650's being the optimum, with a charger, its been noted to me that the NITRO CHARGER is a good buy?

the main 'body' of the whole kerfuffle, being the mod
there seems to be quite a lot of thumbs up for a vv/vw mod, and quite a few taks for the PRO VARI

the tank
this is where i get a little confused, PRO TANK seem to have a few thumbs up... but is the tank also the atomizer?... and what the hell is a cartomizer?, do i need both, one ... none of the above? I belive the PRO TANK can be replaced or rebuilt, depending on your bravery?

the end bit
i like the look of the ones called a DRIP TIP? is that right?

there have also been various suggestions of kits, but i think i'd like to go for a combination of purchases as this seems to be the way to go and what most people end up doing?

there has also been note of people having a 'home' kit and an 'out and about' kit, do people go down this route, if i were to purcahse the above is there a comparable kit which would give me the same experience, but smaller albeit with less battery life

liquid
most suggest 18mg nicotine and ge a few flavours in

so, therefore, does the beow make a full kit?

18650's with Nitro Charger
Pro Vari vv/vw mod
3no Pro tanks
Drip Tip
Moocho Flavours

As ever, all help gratefully reveived

Tank, atomiser/atty, clearomiser/clearo, glassomiser, and cartomiser/carto are all names for the bit what holds and heats the juice; you only need one at a time (good to have 2+ just to have spares if you want to change flavours or use one while another's getting clean and dry, but you could live with just one if you had to). There are some differences technically, but usually people use the terms tank or atty in a general sense to refer to any of them. The protanks are decent - I love them! - and do have spare heads you can just buy and screw in when they need replacing, or can be rebuilt when you get brave. You don't need anything else, but might be worth picking up a cartomiser or whatever too just to see if you prefer it, although not essential.

the end bit

The drip tip is the mouth piece. Usually a tank comes with one, some don't, some have a non-removable one. If you get something that doesn't have one, or has a removable one, you can buy them separately to get something that looks nice and is comfy. They tend to be cheap, so easy enough to play about with different materials and shapes.

there has also been note of people having a 'home' kit and an 'out and about' kit, do people go down this route
Some do, some don't. Some kits don't work so well with travel: low battery life, requiring staying upright (a genesis style atty can have a hole that will leak juice if it's laid down, so not the best for chucking in a bag or car), or just being bulky, some are expensive and shiny, so folk like to keep them at home to enjoy without worrying. You can easily just get one or two setups and just use whichever one is charged and clean for whenever.

That'd do it. But shop around, you don't have to stick to a brand if you can get something similar cheaper (from a decent vendor like the lovelies on here).

I wouldn't recommend a ProVari right off the bat. Yes they are the best VV mods out there *but* they only have variable voltage and in order to make it easier on yourself to start out with it's better to get a variable wattage mod as then you don't have to worry about ohms and what resistance your atomiser is at all. Also the menu system on a ProVari isn't the most user friendly thing out there, the screen and menu system on some of the other VW mods is a lot easier to get to grips with.

You are going to need a spare mod as well so that if the worst happens and you lose/break your main one then you have something at hand to fall back on so your cheaper starter mod isn;t going to go to waste.

Yes your list is a full kit, though you don't need a drip tip, the ProTanks have those already with them.

I'd recommend if you want a proper mod to get an SVD or an MVP from Innokin or a ZMax from Sigelei or a v5 Vamo. They will all vape exactly the same they differ in price and looks mostly, get whichever of those you like the look of the most.

3 ProTanks is a good starting point, I'd recommend ProTank 2's rather than ProTank 3's.

Go for a NiteCore or an XTar charger

Get 2x 18650 and 2 x 18350 IMR batteries, either EFest or AW.

And a lot of e-liquids.

I'd also recommend you get some replacement heads for the ProTanks too. Get 1.8ohm or 2.2ohm resistance ones.

Once you get your mod set it to wattage mode at around 7.5watts and vape and enjoy yourself.

Give it a couple of weeks to get used to how everything works, and then get a ProVari if you still want one once you've worked out which juices you like better and what power level you prefer to vape at.

again, sincerest thanks to everybody who has helped me out here

i think im finally getting the hang of it

now for a glass of wine, a debit card, and shiny things !
