Hi, This is my first post as I'm pretty new too. 5 weeks ago I felt a lot like you, I'd been smoking for 21 years, hadn't had much success with the cig a likes and then a friend showed me her strange shiney vapour emitting object!
I felt the same way about spending some cash, I just wanted to give myself the best chance possible of getting off the analogues, (see, 5 weeks and I've picked up some of the lingo!).
I started out with a deluxe kit I picked up from Vape Escape, (Vision 1000 Ultimate), based on the fact it seemed to have everything I needed to start out, good reviews, and I must admit the fact it was the most expensive kit they offered, so in my mind it must be the best one. It was indeed a good place to start, pretty simple to set up and worked straight out of the box. In the 5 weeks since I haven't touched another cigarette, and really have no interest in doing so. In retrospect would I buy it again - maybe, maybe not. What I hadn't really realised was the fact that the bit I was paying most for was the batteries as they are the large size with the longest vaping time. Whilst the increased vaping time is a bonus, I've discovered i prefer a slightly smaller battery, especially for carrying out and about. the optimum size for me seems to be about 650 to make a nice size unit. The rest of the kit however was great. I personally think I would have got confused starting out with the variable voltage stuff, the ego batteries have a standard setting and a turbo boost function, which works well enough for my current purposes. My top tip would be to make sure you have plenty of spares, batteries to carry around with you and a few spare clearomisers or tanks to rotate, whilst cleaning, swopping flavours etc. I probably still carry around more gear than I need to, but whislt I'm gaining confidence with the new (to me) technology, it takes away the fear of being without my pv and being tempted back to the analogues. There seems to be a disorder that I have heard referred to as VAD (Vaping Aquisition Disorder), where no matter what you start out with, you will develop a magpie like eye for shiny new things, which seems to happen to everyone, so no matter what you get, you will keep buying! In a nutshell, a good quality basic kit, with a few spares and a few liquids worked for me and I would reccomend it as a good place to start, without the risk of getting too bamboozeled and still enjoying vaping and the fun of being able to add new kit as you work out the best set up for you. Hope this helps and good luck!
