I’m not sure forced labour is a very good idea.

We all forced to work for money beit out of a want for a better life or simply out of self respect.
Call it "liberating the lazy"..........

The reason most people don't want this job is because its seasonal and can be affected by the weather. If you want a full time job its no use at all. But it is perfectly suited to people who can find winter seasonal jobs or workers who can travel and chase the weather to do the same thing elsewhere.

It beats being on the dole, and any job on a cv is better for helping you find other work than a long spell unemployed.
If you are fit and unemployed, go for it.

Used to be able to, got sick of it all though. Undersized apples, used to get loads of them, but now they use them in kids packs.

That was the idea with universal credit, temp work > UC > temp work > UC and so on. Unfortunately UC is so crap, the system is a failure, or perhaps it's a success, depends which side you're coming from.

They were talking about this problem before coronavirus. Fruit and veg picking. Because of brexit. So the situation is double fucked, so to speak.
