What about using the drill bit method, you wrap a coil round a drill bit a pulse the coil until the hot spots are sorted then just slide the mesh through the coil

Not a good idea to pulse a coil while it's wrapped around a drill bit. You might see some serious vapour then!

Right, I know this is possible because I watched two people do it at Vapefest:

I stood in a queue as a bloke did it with ribbon for someone with a hybrid. Pressed the button three times, knocked the coil once, and then Bloke 2 was happily vaping on it for the next 90 minutes.

Thus far I've popped another seven fucking coils; three ribbon and four wire. The coils are loose, the wick is bent to the post, the mesh isn't touching the base of the tank, the mesh is very well oxidised, there's a silica thread in the middle.

I've done the spring and grommet/washer thing so what the fuck am I doing wrong?

I'd describe the fit of the wire on the mesh as "snug". Do I loosen it off?

This is kinda irrelevant as I'm so fucked off I am doing shit till tomorrow now apart from filling up some misers and breaking out a dripper.

Put it down leave until tomorrow mate, serious you will be getting really fucked off know and making it worse
tomorrow

1 get a drill bit and wrap 4 coils round not ( i take it your using ribbon from what ive read of some threads)
2 pulse it a dozen times (this will stiffen the coil up)
3 roll a wick and test as you go along until the wick will spiral into the coil and in the tank.
4 make sure the wick does not touch the bottom of the tank.
5 don't ozidize it, pulse the fuck out of it with a low battery.
6 serious job done mate.

I've seen your pics and that pic has a top hotspot from hell various reasons, going to short-top coil pulling hell the list goes on.

Giant mug of tea and Monkey Jizz in a miser before I start bombing the Snake Oil on a dripper. That last one was the final straw and I'd already decided to go down the route to start from scratch with the drill bit and a fresh tank/mesh but didn't realise I needed to leave the mesh unoxidised.

Thanks for the advice. At some point I'd love to know the list of cock-ups if you have the time

I had a spout of this very thing a while ago 2 hrs later and various coils I gave up next day tried again sorted first time and I use ribbon as well as wire (not at the same time mind)
