RBA on MVP 2, what do I need?

better than me...i remember small snippets of everything i read..it's like a collage in my heed...a big bag full of half sentences.
i'm i right in saying though ,that 1.8ohms along with the variable wattage would still give me access to the dizzying heights of 12watts.
(Of course as i never leave 7.5 this is a moot point)

FYI, the MVP only goes up to 11 watts. Not 12.

I currently use my MVP for dripping (usually coming out at between 1 - 1.2 ohms. I'm quite happy with the results. Waiting on my Hana Modz V3 being delivered so I can build more and lower though.

Cheers for the replies and advice,

More noob questions?

Isn't the ohm of a coil defined by the number of wraps? If so then the pre-made resistance wire, if it is already set to a certain resistance (somehow) then when you wrap it won't it even go lower resistance?
I'm never made a coil before and only watched vids where they use the normal wire.

I've read people saying it's easier to work with, but I'm not sure whether to just go the standard route as all the vids and tutorials I've found are using normal wire, not this pre-made resistance stuff.

Also I was thinking about using Silica and not Wool as Wool is more combustible. I'm not a worrier but I am quite careful, probably a good asset with this stuff. Am I being over concerned? Would you suggest a complete noob beginner coiler like me should start with Silica, or will I be fine with Ekowool?

I'd like to order today so replies as soon as possible would be great. Cheers.

Edit: If I go for Silica and use the .28 Kanthal, should I go for 2mm Silica?

the length of the wire determines the resistance..regardless of wraps..
Hence pre made res/no res will be the selected value regardless ..
Far easier to work with imo

i use rayon(cellu cotton)
have got cotton and silica ..but prefer rayon cos its a touch easier than cotton...i dont really trust silica although it's easiest to work with.

Cheers, I kinda but don't completely understand (but that's not your fault), I think I just need to make one of these coils to understand better. I think I'll use Silica to start with, gotta be a better vape than those Kanger coils (although they're silica too so I hope so!).

Think I'll get the standard .28 wire as I can't quite get to grips with the pre-made resistance stuff. The highest pre-made resistance I've seen is 1.8, but on a dual coil that will only be 0.9 ohms which will be too low for my MVP 2. Maybe I am starting to understand some of this stuff! :D

Will I need tweezers or anything? Really not got any tools, lol.

sorry..my fault..i only make coils for evods(which have to work on my wife's ego bat) so premade stuff is ideal for me..not for you..
in my case all i use are sharp scissors for the wick..most folk use nail clippers(give a cleaner cut)
i've got jewellers snips but i dont use them, even with these i cant get in close enough to where i want to cut,
Kanthal snaps exactly where you want if you just bend it a few times.
Tweezers for removing old wick and
Needle nose pliers are handy..not actually required though.

I've seen pre-made resistance wire at stealthvape that is 3ohm, so two of them would make 1.5 ohm. That means I can use pre-made resistance on a dual coil then?

With the wire, it has a natural resistance to the flow of electrons.
The current has to flow from one end of the wire to the other, so the longer the piece of wire, the more exposure the electrons have to the resistance and therefore the higher the resistance is. Make sense? I'd be amazed if it does with my crappy explanation :rotflmao:
So, if you have a piece of Kanthal an inch long with a resistance of 1.5 ohms, it doesn't matter if you twiddle it around something very small to make more, smaller coils or around something larger to make fewer, larger coils, the resistance will still be the same :)

Sorry to hear you're having problems with the Kanger coils, I got my V2 about the same time as you and have had no issues. In fact, I've not long bought a second.
My only slight issue is that the uprated heads seem to be a lot harder to clean but apart from that, they're working really well.
I've still got the original one in use from a Month or so ago.

Hope you get sorted soon!

@Panter I'll let that info seep into the wicks of my brain for a while. Usually have to leave for 30 mins or before trying to understand, lol.

Will 2mm of this be any good if I try wool?
Voodoowool

Is 2mm ok?

Looks OK, but tbh, I'm well out of my comfort zone offering advise on wicks!
I've dabbled with silica, 3mm on the Kayfun and some 1.5 in the Kangers, but I've only had a quick play, I'm a cotton man at heart.
I'm sure someone else can set you straight, blademansw is pretty hot on wicks, if he's about?

Can anyone tell me what size wool to get for kayfun lite plus dual coil, if I'm using .28 kanthal wire. I know it may be individual choice but as a total noob I'd appreciate knowing what works for others. Cheers.
