What's new

RBA on MVP 2, what do I need?

I drained a KFL today my taking out the fill-up screw and then get a bottle with the nipple removed and touch the side of the bottle with the drip that comes out, it then sort of wicks or siphons if you like. Took about a minute to drain it that way. Only way I can think of without wasting loads of juice.

I put the kayfun upside down in a little plastic container and unscrewed the base. The chimney came lose and the liquid flowed out. I will just use a little plastic kitchen funnel to transfer the liquid back into the bottle and then from bottle to kayfun.

Took some pics: kayfun1.jpgWIN_20140802_155459.JPGWIN_20140802_155525.JPGWIN_20140802_155409.JPG

The first pic shows the coil being above the airhole, however when I first inspected it it had dropped quite a bit, so the pic was taken after I had lifted it back up.

Second pic shows one side and how I've been curling the wick up, as instructed in the Navy nest coil video. Pic 3 shows the other side.

4th pic shows from above, wicks unfurled. I didn't take one with the chimney on, soz forgot, but if you really need that then I could take another pic I guess.

Maybe it was just the coil being pushed down too near to the airhole?

I am wondering if the chimney is pushing the coil down due to the thickness of the voodoowool. You need that couple of mm clearance to get correct airflow, and thus vapour and taste production.

@shezzuk1 It's not the adjustable airhole, it's the larger screw you remove and fill into. If you put liquid in the adjustable airhole screw part then liquid would just come straight out of the airhole on the side of the base. Least I think so.

Anyway I made the coil and it came out at 2ohms. I was aiming for 1.5 ohms. According to this I should use 9 wraps to obtain 1.5 ohms using 2mm material and 28 Kanthal. Must be that the '2mm' voodoowool I am using is actually more like 3mm.

Well my coil turned out well, vapes ok but I'd like more vapour, which I may have got if it came out at 1.5ohms. The flavour is quite big and intense, although I'm using a hastily put together cola juice so it's not the best I think. I normally vape 16mg, but I didn't want to use those juices as I've read that in the kayfun to use half what you normally use. I've got an 8mg juice steeping at the mo so will use that in a few days time.

Cheers.

Edit: @shezzuk1 Oh yeah watching the vid again I see what you mean. Must be a different version of the kayfun.

Your coil looks a mess, practice etc

@Mostly The guy in the vid I posted used a drillbit to wind the coil round. I used that method for my second coil and it came out so much better and more tightly packed wraps, almost like the one in the pic you posted (in fact I think mine were more tightly packed than in that pic. Wish I'd taken a pic now, lol!). Another good tip the guy in the vid gave was to vape through the chimney part to check you're getting good vapour production and taste before filling the tank (wish I'd known this before!). I'm sure you already know this but I didn't till I watched that vid.

I also made sure my coil was angled. I'm vaping it now, but yes I will get better at it. I will give the Navy nest another go once I have some thinner material to use.

Cheers.

The voodoo will be fine, the 2mm refers to the internal diameter, push it down onto the deck, once the chimmey is on, then with a wee screwdriver push it back towards the deck, away from the chimmey tube
