RBA vs pre-built - Please explain

No problem mate.

How do you feel the Aromamizer compares to vaping stock coils?

With stock coils I always got a dry hit if I tooted it for too long. Like the juice wouldn't have time to be sucked back into the cotton in the coil. But now I can inhale for ages and even chain vape and the coil doesn't dry out or need time to get juiced up again. It's exactly what I was looking for. I just need to figure out what kind of coil is my favourite.
I tried a juggernaut coil last night but didn't like it. Saying that, I have a set of very cheap shit coils in a multipack and I can't be sure that they're a true representation of what a handmade one would be like. I've ordered some proper handmade coils. I found a shop last night that has a sale on and is selling off handmade Goatshead coils worth £8 a pack for only £1 per pack so I got some of them.
Right now I have x2 tri-core claptons in and I like them. Got some aliens on the way too, so just trying them out to see what I'll settle on. Want to try a 3.5mm or 4mm single coil in the single deck. The 3mm's look really small. From watching the review vids, the decks and coils looked huge and I was surprised at how small they are on this. Kind of which I got the 30mm plus version of this tank lol.

One of the negative things I didn't envision happening is my smoke alarms are always going off because of the thick vapour. I'm going to have to spend £40 on a Nittan Evolution EV-DP dual optical smoke detector. They're made for reducing false alarms in places like hotel kitchens or building sites that have lots of steam or dust. My smoke alarm went off after I went to sleep last night as the vapour seeped through the gaps around my door haha. Had to disconnect the smoke detector outside my bedroom which is dangerous :(
Anyone else have this problem?

The smoke alarms are an occupational hazard for heavy vapers, open windows or air purifiers can help.

Not sure where you live but I'm in the UK and it's Winter here. Mild at the moment but still like 5c at night lol. Windows aren't feasible at the moment.
I'm guessing a good air purifier might be around the same price as an EV-DP dual optical smoke detector so I might have to fork out £40 for one of those.

Tri-core fused claptons are good. The other coil I would suggest is one of the better coil types are framed staples. I also didn't like juggernauts. Coils larger than 3mm aren't very easy to find which is why I wrap my own but it seems to be getting much more difficult to find anyone selling complex wire reels any more.

I like a bit of space between my coil wraps as I feel it allows more juice to get picked up by the airflow so that's also something you can try if you want. I've certainly found I get far more flavour, my builds last longer and there's virtually no chance of a dry hit.

I`m in the UK too mate, it`s getting to the point where I have to choose between having the windows open a crack or switching the ap on, I get more grief from the wife than the smoke alarms, and it takes a lot less to set her off :)

To thin cotton for mesh DON'T try to thin it out by raking the excess as, as you have found, you will pull the cotton out from under the mesh. Try lifting the wicks and cutting it with scissors at a 45 degree angle removing most of the cotton at the top and leaving a much thinner strip at the bottom, or cut it to length so it is long enough to go into the juice wells, feed the cotton at the bottom of the wick into the wells until it seems sufficiently full, but not packed tight, and cut away the excess at the top.

I did it! Followed your advice and the mesh deck is tooting perfectly now :D
It's a pleasure to toot. I used Cotton bacon for this one. Thanks man. Much appreciated.

Yes I want to try framed staples.
The dual coils I did are spaced. I put them on the coil rod and pulled them apart so there's a small gap in between the wraps. I also think it improves the flavour.
I'm looking for a kit I can get for making my own coils that includes everything I need. A proper coil jig that allows me to wind coils without having to manually wrap them around something.

Take a look at this. I'm thinking of getting one.
There's a case study of a live music venue which allows vaping and the smoke alarms were always going off. They said they switched to these and they've not had a false alarm since.

Those coil winders only work with roundwire - if you try to use them on complex wires like fused claptons/aliens/staples etc they will snag and destroy the coil. all you need is a graduated coiling rod - or even a drill or screwdriver of the correct thickness and you're good to go. wrapping your own coils with complex wires is laughably easy if you can buy the wires in spools of 10 or 15 foot.

save your money - only buy a coil winding jig if you intend to wrap small MTL coils or round-wire, they're useless for anything else.
