RDA's fused shut from not being used- how to get them apart.

Hi everyone, as you know I took a long break from the forum and this also meant that I was not maintaining my mod and atty collection.

Today I tried to use a velocity RDA to build a dual coil build a bit lower in resistance than I usually would, but even screwed onto a mod I can't pull it apart to get to the build deck.

This made me check my other RDA's, and out of all of them all but 2 will come apart. My RTA's are all fine though, they will come apart but these are obviously screwed together and not just pull apart like an RDA.

What can I do to separate the parts that have seized together? I gather it is a mixture of eliquid and general grime that builds up on metal causing this.

Thanks for your help, Conan.

You could try sticking them in hot water that may help expand them

throw them in the freezer for a couple of hours, then use grip gloves/rubber gloves, if that fails and you've got an ultrasonic cleaner fire them into that.
You want the metal and 0 rings to shrink a wee bit to pull off

Was it the velocity you needed to unscrew the drip tip to remove the barrel.
For a stubborn RDA I screw it into this metal stand then grab the barrel with a rubber glove.

Thanks mate, I will boil the kettle in a minute and give this a try.

Unfortunately I don't have a freezer (long story) but I do have rubber gloves, these might give me the grip I need to get them apart.

Erm do you know what, I have no idea! I just saw the velocity and thought I would use that, stuck, so tried another RDA, also stuck, then another, then another.

It is annoying as I have ordered a copper Kindred V2 mech (I know its old, but the genuine mods were on sale for £4.99, I could only get it in chrome, but I was buying an Istick Pico off of another forum member and they offered the copper Kindred V2 as well for a fiver so I jumped at the chance as then I would have the collection) and I have a lovely copper derringer RDA which will make for a nice compact mod where the RDA is so short, but I can't get the wankers apart!

I just dug out an old bonza rda that hadn't been separated in a few years and it's stuck solid too, I've but it on a mod and tried a rubber glove but no joy, I'll give it a soak in hot water and see how I get on

Well after a soak I have managed to get most of them apart, the inside of the derringer was a right mess, the screws will definitely need a scrub with a brush along with the rest of the RDA's.
