As I'm sure many of us are aware, as of tomorrow 1st October 2015 it will become an offence to smoke in the confines of a private vehicle carrying minors.

Pretty much pointless to us as vapers, however I've seen people repeatedly ask if it includes vaping?

Some saying 'yes, Joe Bloggs down the pub said it does'.

Or

'It said in some far fetched article'

Well, screw Joe Bloggs and screw the article.

No, it does not include e cigs. Thought I'd just post as to clear up anyone else wondering :)

Also will the Police even enforce said ban? With the current cut backs and strained resources, it doesn't seem the original ban will be enforced. Possibly by some...

Will police turn a blind eye to new smoking ban in cars? | Meridian - ITV News

Hope that clears it up for some :)

So, 1 17 year old that's just passed his test picks up his 17 year old mate in his car. Both smokers yet neither are allowed to smoke?

Unfortunately stuff like this seems to become their bread and butter, just like the mobile phone law (not that I'm against that in any way).. Nothing to do? Let's go look for some easy pickings.. It is fair to say that bless them the police have to enforce the law no matter what that law is, but driving the daddy wagon I have I can see myself getting pulled over on a regular basis for vaping in my car while having a 'children on board' triangle in the back window, an obvious pushchair in the boot, sunshades on the back windows and children's car seats in the back.

Now I very rarely vape in the car with my kids.. There have been those occasions, long motorway journey, kids asleep, nice breeze, quick puff and blow it straight out the window, but if I do get pulled over all the time what am I supposed to do to stop it, take the car seats, pushchair, sunshades, triangle and other parent / child paraphernalia out my car every time I want to go down the shop on my own? Bah.. :S

Well as the smoking laws ban anyone under 18 smoking as well... yet no one has been prosecuted for smoking under age... although whoever supplied them with cigarettes can be charged... 2 17 year olds? Hmm... unlikely. .. however is more than likely a way to raise additional revenue for strapped councils... PCO's have the power to issue penalty fines etc... so guess this will be happening on a regular basis. .. fines issued. .. people paying out cash... follow the money yeah?

Just add a conspicuous sticker. ITS VAPOUR, NOT SMOKE !
That should do it. Lol

To be fair to the police they do seem to recognise how difficult this will be to enforce. It's pretty obvious if someone is using a mobile phone whereas they've got to check a number of things if someone appears to be smoking. Their spokesman did point out they'd have to make the decision to stop after assessing whether there were children in the car and trying to decide if it was an e-cig being used. I think they see enforcement as more trouble than it's worth.

If I carried minors in a car, I'd be tempted to get a cigalike :P

But that's just because I'm a cunt. Leave the mods at home, go for the cigalike
