What's new

So, about all this mech squonking malarkey?

I haven't had the chance to fire it yet, and bear in mind that this is my first experience of a 3D printed job, but in the hand it feels good and well made. All the seams are tight and fit where they should and it takes a slight tug to open. The 510 doesn't quite sit flush with the top of the mod, but is fitted nice and tightly with a screw, and has a sprung positive post.
Really, based on first impressions, the only thing that might put someone off is the white fire button. Although the button does lock to stop pocket firing, so it's not all bad :)

Sorry about pic quality, they were taken at my desk on my work phone.
Mine is on the slow boat from China, should be here tomorrow or Monday.

@Blaize Have a look at my last post in the squonk check thread, i took a cheap Frankenskull clone added new copper contacts (£2.25) and a modmaker 510 (£10) and it's now a fantastic little mod, the clones will always be a compromise as they are using cheaper (and in some cases dangerous) parts to knock them out so cheap, but the enclosures are sound for the money. I must add that i am only talking about the cheaper Frankie clones, some of the Chinese companies are now producing their own 3D printed mods (Yiloong) and i'm sure reviews for these will be forthcoming if you check youtube.
Sorry to butt in on the conversation
Just curious where you got the copper contacts from?
Thanks in advance

I'll interject if I may? You can get them on the bay, you're looking for 12mm x 0.7mm x however long you need based on my wife's cotton tape measure. My calliper is down the garage, so that's as close as I can get you tonight.

You're welcome mate, and you're not butting in. This is the wrong forum for a nice quiet chat!
Looks good LG. I do still enjoy the o atty for middle of the road airy and for a kayfun/nautilus style vape im loving the little strike clone. I've found kanthal is better for high ohms (Lol anything above one ohm is high these day's) after a lot of different wire I find it a little more gentle with mtl flavours. I do still prefer stainless or nichrome for low ohms.
Keep us updated how you get on.

Well, I've just built a 0.4 ohm 7 wrap build in 24g 316l, and I have to say, I get it. I finally understand what all the fuss is about mech squonking.
Now, notwithstanding that my other coils (on my reg mods) are getting a bit old and could do with replacing, I've found the flavour to be better, the vape to be cooler and obviously the mod has a better form factor in the hand and being 3D printed, is more tactile. I'm still not 100% that it'll replace regs for me, but as an alternative, it works :)

And of course, now I can finally try TC mode :)
