Hi guys,

Decided I want to start using electronic cigarettes but then came across 'vaping'. I'd like to start on a budget of £40-£50 for my first device. I do like the look of the shiny ones and the ones where the tank is visible. I'd also want one that I could refill with next to anything, if that's possible?

Could someone advise one and weigh up the pros and cons? I smoke roughly 30-40 cigarettes a day so the battery would have to be reasonably good.

If the tanks are say replaceable with any or need a specific thing, could you just state what I can replace it with?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking to conquer the vaping world at all lol. I just want something of good quality that's better than the e-cigs I tried in the off license. I did try a Vapestick and that wasn't bad but those E-Lites are something awful.

Thanks so much! :)

Have a look up in the Marketplace for some good starter kits.

You could go with EGO's or straight onto a mod type device.

Kanger Protanks Mini's are great, as are evods :)

Welcome to Vaping!

:welcome1: to the wonderful world of vaping!
Ego type kits are a great place to start! Battery, tank, liquid, job done!

Excuse my ignorance but what is an EGO vs a Mod kit? WOuld a mod kit be say detachable bits you can mix and match vs one unit?

I've just found the marketplace, many thanks :)

welcome to the forum, although I still use a vapestick, as you'll see in my avatar picture, I've tried a few others too, jusr recieved my EGO starter set ordered via this forum, so far its giving good results

Hi datvaperman,

Welcome to PoTV!
From your description, and given the amount you smoke at the moment, you are possibly best of with a E-Cigarette kit that has 2 batteries, so you can charge one while vaping with the other (nothing worse than running out of battery). While the pass though option (vape while chargins) may be a solution for this, it is limited to you sitting next to a power source...
As to the tank, there are many options out there. If you buy a kit, it will usually come with a tank or even a few of them. If you get a E-Cigarette with the for example a 510 thread, then there are lots of options from many vendors.
As to the the brand and the kit, the choice is yours. As to which brand is best is better answered by an independent forum member, as we are specialized in Innokin products and our view would therefore be biased (hope someone else can help with that).

Hope this helps

Having gone through cigalikes, Egos/CE4s and then experimenting with tanks and other batteries, I would say that a perfect starter kit for your budget would be 2 decent mah Egos (one for charging, one for vaping). If budget stretches to it, at least one Ego Twist would be an advantage, as it broadens your options on different resistance coils/heads.

Knowing what I do now, I'd bypass the common starter CE4 tanks and go straight for Evods/protank minis (as recommended above). They're a superior vape, more consistent and have replaceable heads (interchangeable, because both are made by Kanger).

I now have an Innokin itaste VV v3.0 on order, so I can make and test my own coils, but cost might exclude that for you at present. It's not a problem, as it doesn't render the Egos obsolete if you upgrade later.

Quite a few vendors sell Evod/Ego starter kits - single or double sets, so that might be your easiest option. Otherwise, I'd probably suggest 2 Egos (minimum 900mah, ideally higher) - at least one of them a Twist and maybe at least one each of Evod and Protank Mini (to test your preference), plus a few juices of at least 18mg (probably higher at first, given your smoking levels now) - it might be worth trying a couple of different PG/VG ratios as well, as quite a few people prefer the higher vapour volume/lower throat hit of the 50/50 juices, but many pre-mixes are 70/30 (Fantasy Vapez juices at vape-space are 50/50)

I can highly recommend kanger Pro Tank Mini's and Kanger Evods. Great vape! You can buy two Evods (2 batteries and two tanks, plus charger) for less than £30 now. You just need to buy a few e-liquids and away you go!
The tanks are easy to fill and much better than e-cig-a-likes.

Hi, I'd suggest a starter kit like this one as a good starting point : http://myepack.co.uk/kits/e-vod-kit.html

This pack contains two ego batteries, so one on charge while you use the other one.

It contains two Evod clearomizers (aka Evod bcc) which are the parts that you fill with e juice. They contain heads which are the bits that vaporize the juice. These are replaceable and the kit comes with 5 spare heads. This makes them reusable and cheaper than disposable versions in the long run. The kit also contains all you need to charge the batteries.

All you need to buy then is some juice and away you go. I have used Myepack several times and they are very good.

I highly recommend reading through the wiki pages on here as they will explain lots of the terminology!!

Good luck.

That's not a bad price for such a full kit from the UK (my first ego kit was £20 for one 900mah batt, charger, one CE4 and a bottle of juice)- you could even afford a protank mini plus juices on top and stay within the upper end of your budget
