Starter device help

I should also add that even if you go on to buy another device later on, most people still keep the ego's as back up devices or use them when going outdoors. So the initial investment in them is still worth it in the long term.

might be on your upper limit but this is a nice bit of kit http://myepack.co.uk/mods/ksd-kmax-full-kit-chrome.html and the Kmax+ version 2 is coming next week for £50.. solid piece of kit with everything you need and mines already on order. ive done the whole ego_c thing, and using a kamry x6 at moment with puritank ( the mini nova tank gives me a poor air flow on the kamry and a lousy vape ) all ya need to decide on is some juice. The kmax+ comes in variety of colour configs too and has the updated OLED screen with variable voltage and wattage, build in ohm meter etc.. rather like the vamo but its better build quality and telescopic.. looks the bees knees without being a huge beast of a thing too.

I'm not knocking this kit for an upgrade at some point, but don't you think it's a bit on the advanced side for a starter? It's also quite expensive, given the cost of juice on top.

I've been vaping (ego/tanks) since April, and though I've considered the mods, I've decided to stick with contained rechargeable units (ego & itaste) for the foreseeable future, knowing that these will never be obsolete, even if I upgrade in the future. They're cheap and easy to take out & about, and with the itaste, I'll be adding VW and ohm metering to the mix without the hassle of a huge unit and separate batteries. I'm also not ready to commit to a large outlay when there's so much choice and I might pick the wrong one for my needs - I want to wait until I KNOW what I want.

i guess i can see the por's and cons having been vaping for 3 months. i paid around £40 for my first ego kit ( 2 egos, 2 ce4 throwaway heads, 2 usb chargers and a case ( yes i know now i could have probably got it half that price now ). within a week one of the batteries centre pin messed up to the point it wouldnt fire. so went out and got an ego -c pass trhough battery. a month after that and another £25 i got the kamry x6 ( u can get that now for £20 and its a self contained unit with 3 voltage settings byt the single rubberised fire button ( 5 clicks on and it lights red, 5 clicls it goes purple and ups the volts and 5 more it goes blue up to 4.2 or 4,3 volts ).. pic here

add to that cos of more tanks ( puritank, vivi nova and some spare ce4's ) and its all added up.
Sure the kmax may be a little more advanced but as its intellegent setting defaults to whats best for the tank or clearo on top you can just fire and go. but then its also a little bit future proof ( if these things can be that ) so when you want to go more advanced you have the option to without further outlay .

the cons.. well of course you could buy it and just not get on with it.. but then i guess it would be pretty easy to sell too. certainly compared to having a few egos lying around unused. you could always look at something inbetween ( if you liek the box design such as the mvp shown here

http://myepack.co.uk/mods/itaste-mvp-v2-0.html
self contained battery but you get the ohms meter and vv built in and very easy to use and a very popular bit of kit.. its about the size of 10 pack of cigs to give an idea so not really bulky.

Honestly not criticising the mods, but I'm not sure I want one yet, and I've been on egos/tanks 6 months, cigalikes on & off for about 6 months before that.
I think the OP's budget is sensible for a first set up, most people love vaping, but there are people who lose interest, so £40-£50 is nothing lost if it helps you save just one week's worth of fags any savings after that are a bonus, but you've lost nothing if it ends up in a drawer and only comes out for flights.

I've bought one dodgy ego, but it was DIRT cheap. Broke another when I sat on it. The remaining 4 have been serving me well for months.

The other great advantage is that the ego/itaste VV have ego and 510 threading, so fit practically any tank you care to throw at them.

I'm not knocking other suggestions at all. Personally, I'd rather suggest a £25 - £30 simple set up with two devices to someone new. That way:

- If they don't get on with vaping, they've only spent the same as 2 large packs of baccy.
- They love and stay on them, then all's well.
- They love it so much they want to go on to other mods, they can keep them as back-ups / sell them / pass them on to another new user.

Personally, I would feel comfortable suggesting spending £50 on 1 mod and 1 disposable tank to a complete beginner.

i guess the advanatge of spending that little bit more on say an MVP for £40 is if you fdont like it and dont get on with it you could easily sell it for £30 only losing a tenenr.. spend £20 on a basic ego and you dont like it. chances are you wont be able to give it away let alone sell it so its all as they say swings and roundabouts
