Steam crave v3 mesh help

I couldn’t get the steamcrave stuff to work. Only had success with cotton gods.

here’s a picture of mine. It’s not perfect and you can see a hotspot but it’s vaping at 70w without dry hitting. you can see what I mean about the tails being higher than the mesh

Yes i can, I thought that was what you were angling at but I wasn't quite 100%.

Should I do the same on the coil builds too?

Ta for that, a picture speaks a thousand words!

i don’t bother. I’m no expert but in my mind mesh needs it so there’s plenty of juice to supply the larger surface area of a mesh build. For coil builds it’s more important to judge the amount of cotton through the coil and to slightly thin the ends of the wick to promote wicking. Whether it’s mesh or a coil I try to ensure that the juice wells aren’t packed out with cotton - just enough to prevent leaking.

Right, big thanks from me! Interview with a vampire hair works great, decent flavour too

I think though I have overfilled the ports as I can only really use a moderate wattage for a moderate pull and then it hits a bit ( like 65w for 2-3 secs max)
So to my mind its not wicking fast enough, so i assume I have over filled the ports

So do I thin out a bit more in future to minimise the strands?
Or do a bit of a hair cut tothe cotton to maybe only allow the centre of the cotton all the way into the port?

A quick Google makes me think basically cotton wool pads the mrs would use for make up?

Anything more specific?

Could be one of two things, hotspot or slow wicking.

if it’s a hotspot it’s just about getting more wick through the coil. Think tighter than a nuns chuff and you’re getting there :D

In terms of wicking, I leave long tails and thin the ends until there’s a massive pile of cotton that I’ve taken out the wick. Perhaps an inch of tail to begin with. I then cut short after I’ve thinned. you can use the profile mesh wick cutting method that’s on a thread here to help too.

If you think about it the volume of cotton through the coil it’s massive compared to the size of the wells so taking 60%+ of the cotton out of the tail isn’t as extreme as it looks initially.

Length wise, you can cut the cotton pretty much at the edge of the deck (that’s how the manual recommends). After I’ve cut to length I fluff all the cotton upwards and then start pushing the lowest cotton inwards towards the coil so it flips down into the juice well but I don’t physically push it down. I keep repeating until there’s the upper bit of the wick left and I put the end just inside the lip of the juice well.

the first time I used the deck it took me at least 5 goes to get it going. Since then it’s become easier. I still can’t for the life of me work out how to wick the mesh deck on the profile RDTA!

HI mate.

So you liked Falcons. Pretty nice coilheads, I still use them.

Supreme V3 is a great atomizer, but mesh deck requires some master. All the other decks are super easy to build and wick.

Do you know about the Vapefly Kriemhild? Its a regular sub-ohm tank like the Falcon, BUT the Kriemhild has an RBA coilhead option thats basically a rebuildable vertical mesh (just like regular coilheads); in other words, you are able to rebuild your stock coils in that one. Go have a look, it seems to be very nice.

I would say horizontal mesh RBA is Wotofo territory...

Keeping this alive as its been a great help and is very useful to me

On the right is last nights mesh, it started to taste a little rough today so I had a look. The cotton on the side thats more puffed out above the shoulders is very discoloured. Why? (Itsatight fit btw puffed out like that

On the left is last nights rebuild dual. I been blasting this all day at 75watts. Best flavour I had yet by a mile, getting close to a falcon with a half day old coil

But it looks a mess, black is very uneven

I struggled to build it. The prebuilt coil (picture of box to avoid any confusion with my description( but I would be lying if I told you which 1 of the 2, or tbh even if I used a pair)

A -coils re too long to fit in holes which is why it appears a little "sprained"
B - I couldn't really get the coils to glow in order to get an even glow with 50w, but could smell the heat so stopped
C- for some reason my smok species mod says "ohms too high" for both this dual and the single coil which also has geekvape coil in. But yet for the dual coil pictured my geekvape mod say 0.05 ohms. I am confused on this

Despite the appearance the dual gives a good vape, but i still need a bit more schooling i think
