Steam crave v3 mesh help

HI mate.

So you liked Falcons. Pretty nice coilheads, I still use them.

Supreme V3 is a great atomizer, but mesh deck requires some master. All the other decks are super easy to build and wick.

Do you know about the Vapefly Kriemhild? Its a regular sub-ohm tank like the Falcon, BUT the Kriemhild has an RBA coilhead option thats basically a rebuildable vertical mesh (just like regular coilheads); in other words, you are able to rebuild your stock coils in that one. Go have a look, it seems to be very nice.

I would say horizontal mesh RBA is Wotofo territory...

The mesh is certainly a task to get even passable never mind master tbh, but i didn't expect to crack it fast tbh
I have this now, and a lot of bits of various falcon tanks. So I can play at this rta thing for as long as it takes to master it if I have to
And coming on this forum is getting me there farfaster than I could on my own

My preference would be a smaller coil in the dual deck. That wire is super thick gauge and I’d consider something a bit thinner. I tend to go for 3mm id and 5 wraps.

I wonder if the resistance errors you’re getting is because the resistance is too low. That’s on the outer limits of the outer limits.

discolouration on the mesh may be that there’s a bit too much cotton and it’s coming into contact with the outer chamber. It doesn’t look burnt but it could be caramelised juice. I’d be looking to get shoulders somewhere between the one on the right and the one on the left.

I have the Kriemhild with the rebuildable coil head and it is very impressive, flavour is very good with both the stock single coil and the rebuildable coil head. I am finding the rebuildable does not last as long as the stock coil but that might be down to my rebuilding skills on it.
If you like mesh and vaping between 50 65 w it is a must buy in my opinion, I can see myself with several of these and some of my old faithful go to flavour tanks being retired.

So far, in my opinion, the best solution (which is widely copied by the way) was made by Wotofo with their profile series.
Those are very similar the deck you have in your Steam Crave, but its has a part thats the game changer: the spring loaded ceramic pad that pushes the cotton against the mesh strip.

Vandy Vape, Geekvape,... a lot of manufacturers copied and implemented the same idea. Without that small detail, mesh wicking can be tricky (even more tricky actually )

Just keep trying, you will get the sweet spot in the V3 eventually. Cotton must be key with that one.

OK I rebuilt the mesh

What i did was I got a piece of cotton bacon prime (its what I have but may look to move away once used)cut it in half down its length and then I halfed the length. I rolled the heck out of it and just got this through
I then did a real comb out job having listened to whats been said, I then neatened the ends but didn't shorten it.
Placed in the ports and squeezed it up a little to give it some shoulders

And best yet by far, awesome in fact, I need to try my normal juice on it to be sure, but better than the falcon. Using 65w fwiw, 75 blew my head off

I agree on those geekvape coils, I will use up what I got and move on to something else for the coil builds

As a last question- replacement mesh, what type?

I’m still using the same strip so can’t really advise, sorry. I tried the Clapton mesh that comes in the profile rdta and it was really tasty, if it fits it might be worth considering but it seems a bit more easy to distort so you have to be careful when thinning out the wick.

If it tells you anything, I have a falcon king tank, used it for over a year exclusively, loved it.

I bought an RDA as my first rebuildable about a year and a half - 2 years ago, I've used 3 falcon coils since that.

These are my favs, Wotofo Mesh (for the Profile) 0.18ohm A1, I like the higher resistance and seems like quality mesh
