I cant belive UK, France and other countries did not prepare the terrain for what was about to come.
Weeks whatching what was happening in Italy, Spain, etc and not moving a finger.
We (I talk as spaniard) commited the error of thinking we are inmune. Even the pandemic responsible in charge in our government said "nah, we are not facing any pandemic... some isolated case, maybe".

Its like putting yourself in the train tracks, seeing it coming and not jumping away

Why do I want to share this ?
For political reasons? For health reasons?

I could make a similar timeline for Italy, Spain, France, USA and probably a bunch of other countries.
IMO it is too early to tell who has the best strategy.
It is early days in this international shitstorm, and it will be analysed for decades.
For now we are where we are and there will be time enough for playing the blame game before the next election.

How true is the below statement ? Have I missed the bit where they show this is true?

Totally agree with you. All we can do is do our bit to stop the spread at the moment. If people actually listen to the advice given by gov things will be more positive in the long run.

The guardian article is from 8 April
Look at the graph of daily deaths predicted for the last few days.
That is so, not what is happening now.
We should by that graph be on over 2000 deaths a day and rising fast.
