What's new

Theres always one silly question ;)

Have you considered MTL vaping ?
You will still get loads of flavour and should drastically cut that 250ml a week.

For making coils you may have some bits and pieces at home to give you a start.
What you need is.
Ceramic Tweezers
Pair of small screwdrivers 1 x Flat and 1 x Philips.
Pair of wire snips.
Sharp Scissors
Something for wrapping your coils, this could be Drill Bits, Screwdivers or what a lot of vapers use a coiling jig.
You can use a regulated mod to tell you what oHms your coils are.
It doesnt have to be expensive.
Good Luck :2thumbsup:
Listen to this fella! I couldn't have put it better myself!

Oooops, missed the big Sold OUT bit in red, sure you'll find it somewhere though.

Hopefully mine won't be haha
Ive been vaping 3 year now and use a straight up mod and tank and ive been toying with the idea of bitting the self made coil bullet. My problem is i have absolutly zero idea of where to start. Not so much with how to make my own. Ive been reading and watching a few youtube vids. My issue is what i need. Every time i have the thought to get my act together and i have a google session and find all the how to's and the coil building tool kits and info for RTA, RDA etc etc, but i just need someone to tell me exactly what i need as in... this tank, this wire, this wick, this tool kit thats beginner friendly. Everytime i search for kits all i get is tool kits or how to's and i still dont know what atomizer i'd need as a beginner.
Thanks for the help and im sorry for the length of the post

Coil snippers (nail clippers work if need be) and a coiling jig, anything else you'll likely be able to manage with items you have around the house already, unless you don't have precision screwdrivers (even then, many RTAs come with an appropriate sized tool). Only way you'll really work out what you actually need (or will make use of) is by getting on with it and building in some RTAs/RBAs. Many of the bits and pieces for rebuilding are luxury but completely unnecessary IMHO.

A coiling jig will give you cleaner and consistent coils with minimal effort vs trying to wrap wire around a drill bit or whatever. For the amount of coils you get off a spool of wire, you can afford to mess up a dozen times whislt practicing.

The process is basically...

  • Dismantle the tank (to get at the build deck)
  • Make a coil using jig (use some clippers to trim excess wire)
  • Install coil in tank (small screwdriver usually needed here)
  • Check ohms are as expected and not jumping about (else check it's installed securely and not making contact with the deck) on the mod (presumably where you'll be building it
  • Dry burn and rake the coil so glows evenly (coil jig pole or the end of small screwdriver is also fine)
  • Let the coil cool down and then snip (scissors needed here) some cotton and thread through coil (how much you need you'll work out with practice)
  • Fluff (the end of small screwdriver works fine here), trim and tuck cotton(again screwdriver works here to) as appropriate (watch videos on your particular RTA as ideal wicking differs between tanks)
  • Plonk some juices over your wick to saturate
  • Put the tank back together and add more juice using the fill holes
  • Vape
Clippers, jig, screwdriver, scissors, that's literally all you need and you can even forego the jig if you fancy yourself a challenge.

all you really need is a wee screwdriver/allen key (whatever fits your device, often will be included), scissors to trim cotton, something to wind wire round (wee screwdriver or drill bit), wire snippers (nail clippers would work) and a toothpick.

Just don't use a wide screwdriver [emoji16]

The Daedalus that was sold out as posted by @John R is a great bit of kit but not really for someone just beginning rebuildable tanks. You can buy a Coilmaster Kit pretty cheap and it has everything you need. I know a member said you don't need a kit as you won't use everything but i disagree. The more you get into doing rebuildables the more you will use. When you first buy a RDA or RTA you usually get everything you need supplied with the tank which is a good start on your journey.

I said that a lot of what you get in " some" kits, you won't use. Plus, the quality of some of the tools, isn't that great.
Coil master wire cutter are not the best, if you're cutting thicker gauge wires, I've had 3 or 4 pairs where one side of the gutters have snapped off.
It's personal preference I guess.
Like ohm's testing meters?
I have one, but usually check readings on a reg mod.
Agree with you on the Daedalus, I bought one, and ,Yes, they are brilliant, but not perfect. If you get one thing not perfectly set up, it's just a nightmare.

Each to their own though!

I agree, the Coilmaster Scissors were my only beef with the kit, actually the kit i bought although identical with the Coilmaster was a Clone of it, the Wire Cutters are pretty good with the thickest wire i have used being no problem. I did buy a Coilmaster meter because the one i got with the kit didn't have the option to dry burn the Coil and was a reader only, other than that i think the only item i haven't used is the 2mm coil tool.
