But then you have the effects on the economy. They want to get things open again as soon as they reasonably can to protect jobs and reduce the inconvenience for people of being in lockdown. They don't want to make more busineses go under and more people lose their jobs just because not everyone is fully compliant with GDPR.
I absolutely understand the need to open up the economy but they have had months to get all the systems in place before they opened up. Which begs the question, what have they been doing in the meantime? It also raises issue that if you can open things up knowing that they will break the law then is that right? That to me seems like a slippery slope as you are then knowingly putting profits and the economy above the law.

Isn't that just you shredding evidence?
Ha ha criminals can be quite ingenious really, that's not a bad scam really.
I love a good scam, me - they make me laugh. He (naturally) got caught in the end, but he really was a bit of a genius at it. One day I'll bore you shitless with the stories. :D

Oh please do, I love stuff like that. I find it fascinating and some of the stuff criminals come up with has to be applauded sometimes.

I'm not sure the laws are in place yet for this situation. They're trying to get the contact system in place and then play catch up with the legalities.

I'd say you need to get out more but I think that phrase has been made redundant.
I was a shut in long before covid happened. Ive actually been enjoying the last 4 months. My lifestyle went from incredibly dysfunctional to the recommended norm.

Then why open without laws in place? Again, money before the law. DPA and GDPR already provide for data laws so why not just make everything compliant with existing law? They have opened up without the proper legalities in place which shows they value money above the law, that is not right.

I'm sure money is not the only consideration. They have to try and juggle several factors all in a short space of time.

Glad it's not me who has to sort it all out.

I'm glad it's not me either!! I'm sure money is not the only consideration but you cannot have state approved breaking if the law no matter what or what's the point in law at all? No one is above the law.

I don't like being tracked, on terra firma nor in the tinternet.

However, I don't have anything to hide. :hmm:VPNs help. So does leaving your phone at home.

The small number of people tracking a very large population makes detection of dodgy dalliances unlikely.

Unless you are already on a list.

Careful use of language on social media and forums is also advisable.

Algorithms pick up on the most nuanced of posts.

The technology that allows us to buy heavily discounted vape merchandise from China @ 3.00 am, also allows vendors to view our shopping habits, and governments to map our movements.

We can't have our cake, and eat it.

But if the law isn't in place there is no law to break.

DPA and GDPR were never written to cope with a pandemic so this is a unique situation.

You could say the same about the Data Protection Act. It was never written to cope with internet shopping because hardly anyone shopped online back in 1998 and it's taken until last year to get the GDPR to try to close all the loopholes to do with internet traffic.

Normally the police can access payroll and payment details if they have a warrant but now you have a virus thrown into the mix.

Because you need people to cooperate with contact tracing you have to write the laws to make sure the police cannot breach the confidentiality of the information given or you won't get enough trust from the public to make the contact system effective.
