UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

They can't make their minds up. The sweet flavours and fun colours. Ah ok, adults don't enjoy sweets and fun colours. It's all jumping on everything and let's give the kids energy drinks and cigarettes because they'll never be banned

what about all the tik tok stuff, freebies and suchlike? the regular disposables have definitely
been marketed at youngsters. and they have specific selling points that appeal to them. i can see how the gov came to that conclusion, whether i agree with it or not.
Well, it doesn't matter whether I agree with it or not either.. I just really don't like the moral panic nature of it all.. and a possible government knee-jerk reaction...

And then we're gonna get all the WHO BS at the FCTC COP10 in November, who are threatening to -
  • A ban on all open system vaping products
  • A ban of all flavours except tobacco
  • A ban on nicotine salts in vaping products
  • Regulating products so that they are all exactly the same and restrict delivery of nicotine
  • Demanding that countries around the world treat vaping and heated tobacco products the same as combustible tobacco
  • Taxation at the same rate as cigarettes, banning use where smoking is prohibited, large graphic health warnings, plain packaging, and a ban on all advertising, promotion and sponsorship

From what I see - certainly down the pubs and when out and about there will be a lot of adults going back on the fags, they just love disposables, and they're obsessed with the flavours. Looking purely from an environmental angle D's need banning, but the amount of adults who have used D's to quit or harm reduce is a large amount. Despite pods and other easier to use vape set up's a lot of those D users will go back to smoking, but I have no evidence to support my theory, just a gut feeling....

i’m sure more than one of them were scandalised for paying youngsters to promote them on the child friendly tik tok app, no?
Maybe.. but irresponsible marketing on Tik Tok, or obscure cuddly toy disposables, does not equate to a catch-all -
.. it [the government] concluded that single-use vapes are aimed at children.
The main reasons that have been said to justify this conclusion are "bright colours and sweet flavours".. so we had better be concerned about what other vapes they ban next (assuming a ban on disposables), if they really believe that BS...

Firstly, English politicians don’t have exclusive rights to spewing bullocks. We just had an election, and the levels of utter shite coming out their mouths was truly awe-inspiring :11: They are f ex going to rid us of teenage vaping, even though the few disposables available here have 0mg nicotine and I’ve never seen even one teenager with a vape :18:

Secondly, I’d like to try and contribute a bit of optimism. Yes, it may be inevitable that disposables are going to be banned :56: But as far as I can see, the furor in the States over vaping has begun to die down, and the same may occur in the UK. There’s nothing like the possibility of Trump back in the White House (insert your favorite Tory or Labour twat) to distract from the teen vaping crisis :18:

I agree, the moral panic is over the top.. but that's why I felt uncomfortable about them from the start.. because it was so obvious that this is what would happen. My concern is only really how it affects vaping as a whole. I don't want the products that are still available restricted for those who might want them to quit smoking. But for that to fly vaping needs to be whiter than white, it's the same concerns as when china started putting fidget spinners and flashing leds all over mods... it's just so unnecessary and leaves us open to criticism.

I don't think a ban on them would significantly change the amount of people vaping ... when they brought in the 2ml tank rules there were loads of people here saying that it was gonna make people go back to smoking. Seriously if you go back to smoking because you can't be arsed to fill a pod and charge a battery now and again, then I would question how much you wanted to vape/quit smoking in the first place. .... that's just my gut feeling too though.
