UK Gov To Ban Disposables?

I just did a couple of very rough calculations. We are told that apparently there are 5 million disposables a day being thrown away. That works out to over 1.8 BILLION disposables being sold every year. If the average price is £5 that works out to over £9 billion a year in the UK alone. That’s before we even begin to consider the rest of the world.

It wasn’t that long ago that disposables around here were a dirty word. Now, all of a sudden, we’re all supposed to believe that they are the best thing since sliced bread.

I’ve been around long enough to know how easily evidence can be constructed and manipulated to say whatever you want it to and all this so-called “evidence” that’s suddenly come out of nowhere to support opposition to a disposable ban absolutely stinks to high heaven of interested parties trying to protect their profit margins.

They’ll make their profit and then they’ll f*ck off and do something else. Meanwhile they are going to completely castrate the vape industry in this Country.

5 million a week, not per day.

Just read that the Disposable Ban probably won't take effect till 2025 so if you use them your safe for now at least. This no doubt will be so they can change something else. Just hitting us with a Bigger stick essentially.

Crystal are huge around my way. Already released a rechargeable version with disposable pods and have now just released refillable pods too. Lost Mary have the Tappo which I'm sure will now also start to make refillable pods. A shame more wasn't done sooner before the gov got involved. I don't agree with a ban on disposables, but I am happy to see refillable, rechargeable versions appear. Just hope it doesn't end up coming at the cost of flavour restrictions.

And that make a difference because . . ?

You've still got a disposable market that is grossing BILLIONS and from nowhere a whole load of so-called evidence now reckons we should all now kiss their arse and protect their profit margins.

It makes a difference because you said 5 million a day and you based your posted calculations off that. Actual figure of 260 million vs your stated figure of 1.8 billion is a big difference.

HOW ?

Yes, if my base figure isn't right, well I'm just one individual vaper who doesn't work in the vape indurstry and I haven't got all the exact numbers at my finger tips but it doesn't change the basic premiss of my arguement that this unjustified effort to prevent banning disposables is just handing more ammunition to people who will use it to castrate the rest of the vape scene in this Country.

I wasn't actually trying to make any kind of point in regard to whatever else you said. I was just correcting the grossly over inflated figure you posted of how many disposables are purchased and discarded.

But... evidence that blanket banning disposables probably isn't the smartest idea and will have negative knock-on consequences (like in Australia) isn't coming out of nowhere. The potential negatives have just been largely ignored by the mainstream media during their long and sustained attack on vaping.
