What's new

Unravelling the TPD, A vapers attempt to understand article 20.

I've been an airgun shooter for many years (Scottish, might I add), and from my experience with the obfuscation of laws/guidelines regarding the use, ownership and even the type of mechanism used to cycle the rifle/pistol, there will be a lot of grey areas that will need further clarification and will not hold up in any court. Any of these will take years.

The same formula will apply here, it's all down to the wording and how it's interpreted by the individuals involved in any case. Where one public body may allow the possession of a nic base at 72%, another district/county may list it as a poisonous/noxious liquid.

It's all a crock of shit (which I'm sure everyone here agrees with), aimed at pacifying BT and offsetting the large losses incurred by the people's switch to vaping. After all, how much money do Pharma and BT have invested in the back pockets of lobbying ministers up and down the countries? There will be ways round whatever godforsaken daft rules they attempt to implement, whether it be up front through a loophole or simply underground. Hell, a bottle of nic looks just like a bottle of any other liquid through an airport scanner...

I'm hoping beyond all hope I'll be able to keep on doing what I'm doing, causing no harm to anyone (and significantly less to myself than smoking) but truth be told I'll do whatever it takes to keep myself in the lifestyle I've grown accustomed to. The only bugbear I have over the whole thing is the 10ml refill size. I buy 30ml when I buy premade. That boils my piss.

There's a way round every sanction imposed. If huffing on a leaking Derringer/Subtank, filled from a 30ml bottle makes me a criminal then so be it. Just try and slap the cuffs on me over that, I reckon that would not be the only charge that ended up on my record...

I'm still stocking up on all the necessaries. If some comet debris hits at least I will still be able to vape. Better safe than sorry.

Storm in a teacup anyone?

Has anyone asked their local MP or MEP what the TPD means in plain English and clarify with examples?

Theres still a reasonable chance I'm wrong and you won't be allowed a tank larger than 2ml, that would put a serious crimp in @Mrteatimes vaping - Having to refill 25 times a day would piss most people off...

I also wouldn't trust an MP to advise me on the legal niceties of the TPD since any number of them can't figure out the difference between expenses and outright fraud...

On 2 points this is NOT how's it going to be....we in the Netherlands already have the major points of the TPD implemented...and this is what going to happen EU wide with liquid and tanks:
- Nic base will be restricted to 10ml and <20mg......it will be classified as E-liquid
- RTA's, clearomizer will be restricted to 2ml, it's not only cartridges,pre-filled devices which have to comply
for the rest I think you are correct.

On another note: it's only a matter of time before they add taxes and a ban on vaping in public places......

Whta it comes down to for all the nice gear and DIY liquids is: how strict will they check on import from outside EU, if it's bad you better stock up now, if it remains the same, no worries.

Also keep in mind that till november they can still sell the old stock..so we'll probably only feel the hit after that date

after reading this i think im going to stock up on some 72 nic base.

id rather play safe than take a chance on our countries rulers being less strict with the new regs than the DUTCH lot have been.

I had read it and granted it sounds good, but if we all cant agree on what might happen what makes you think they know any better/more than we do?

because they are a vendor? they can say what they think they will be able to do, but what if they are wrong and get hit with a quit doing what your doing or take it to the courts at your own risk/cost letter after the tpd hits. what one do you think they would choose? baring in mind that nic makes up probably only a fraction of their income.

its all hypothetical i know and i have admitted im a glass half empty type lol

not trying to be argumentative btw

Probably through legal council and talking to governing bodies.

or they are just spinning a line and crossing their fingers lol its easy to tell people what they want to hear when even if you dont live up to your words there are no real comebacks.

imo if a firm makes all its profits from the eliquid game they might stump up the cash to have a legal bod try to interpret the tpd so they can conform to keep them in the game but if plain nic sales are just are a fraction of your profits why bother? obligation to vapers? yeah right. ive never seen them around any forum have you?

as for governing bodies got a link?

i cant help but thinking they are just as confused as the basic user of 72mg nic is over the whole tpd thing,

i guess as with most of the tpd only time will really tell how it plays out.
