Unravelling the TPD, A vapers attempt to understand article 20.

Being a well-established chemical company, I am more inclined to believe Lubrisolve than most other suppliers when they say their nic concentrate will be TPD compliant in normal bottle sizes at 72 mg/mL. Regulations and licensing of chemicals is probably a routine part of their business - I think they probably know what they're talking about.

The fact that they say their nicotine will be TPD compliant "very soon" implies something is changing - that they have done something more concrete than just crossing their fingers. I'm optimistic.

What if "TPD compliant" means "only selling nicotine over 20mg/10ml to TPD approved manufacturers"? they didn't say they will still be selling to the general public at 72mg and the same bottle sizes.

That's about how I interpret things also @Tubbyengineer .
Good post and thread.
There will, no doubt, be a few more things thrown into the mix, post TPD. One thing that I (look forward?) to seeing evolve is the TPD vs existing legislations, particularly EU consumer legislation that gives the consumer the right of cross border mail order shopping.

It said they will sell it in the same sizes, it didn't say to whom!
Sure, but they are unlikely to be selling 100ml bottles to juice manufacturers and the response was not to a manufacturer but a general customer enquiry.

Back when the TPD was going through the European parliament, I had an email exchange with an MEP about nicotine base and if this would be included in the restrictions on volume/strength.

His understanding was that it WOULD be subject to the same restrictions as 'finished' eliquid.

Not that his understanding is any guarantee of accuracy... judging by the lack of knowledge/understanding that most of the MEPs demonstrated, most of them didn't have the first clue about the repercussions the vote they were taking would have.

My cynicism would lead me to suggest that legislators will lean towards a more 'control happy' interpretation and impose the restrictions on nic base as well as eliquid... but it's worth bearing in mind I'm a very cynical old cow these days. ;)

One consolation with the impending TPD (only a very small consolation, and of no benefit to us vapers other than a snigger) Is the headaches that the legislators in Brussels will suffer when it comes to "medical product or TPD?" the b'stards won't know where to turn. If NHS distributed e-cigs are available, then they may be classed as medical items, if they are, then the TPD does not apply, they will have to be regulated as medicinal products. Our good old EU laws will not allow anything to be both! :D :D
