Vape Tax.. we all knew it was coming

I think it's unlikely that their proposals will include insisting that we all have to throw away all the hardware we already have. If they want to try and force us all to have to switch to only cigarette or mint flavours that won't be straightforward.

Are you aff yer heid...who the fk said anything about throwing stuff away.

I think us hobbyists stash kit like doomsday preppers anyway but I'm more concerned about people still smoking wanting to quit and looking for gear if it's going to be heavily taxed.

While they are still in the consultation phase hopefully people will take it more seriously and use their voices while we have the opportunity. Apart from that I can't go getting my knickers in too much of a twist until I have a better idea what's going to be included in their proposals because we are just guessing at this stage. There hasn't been any real indication yet about taxes on vape hardware or how they would go about implementing that.

They don't appear to be keen on pricing vaping out as an alternative for smokers to switch to. They also tend to look at what other Countries are doing and I don't know if any other Countries have massively hiked the price on vape hardware through taxes where HMG might follow suit.

At this stage it's all up in the air so, apart from writing letters or completing consultations, all I can do is consider how to protect myself from any ideas that could affect me personally such as flavour bans.

There is a fair amount of media speculation regarding what will actually be done, but the text of the section is:

My government will introduce legislation to create a smoke-free generation by restricting the sale of tobacco so that children currently aged
14 or younger can never be sold cigarettes and restricting the sale and
marketing of e-cigarettes to children

That seems pretty bland compared with what the media are interpreting it as.

Notwithstanding, we cannot be complacent and should air our views via the consultation process.
i think the detail may be in the documents, rather than the content of the speech.

“Documents published alongside Rishi Sunak’s first king’s speech show that a new duty is being considered by ministers”

This pic is from a US citizen. This is how it could end up here if fishy uses similar taxation.

Since I only vape my own DIY juices it'll be interesting to see how their proposals will affect the sale of flavour concentrates.

The same sort of concentrates also get used in baking so I'm sure people will find a way round any law that tries to ban them.

it cant

and no one can ever stop someone selling shortfills.

They can if HMG decides to ban flavours except for tobacco and mint.
I think @Digbys is correct - I cannot see how anyone could be prevented from selling a mixture of legally available food grade products.
Marketing may have to change to remove any reference to it being a vape juice, but if it contains no nicotine I suspect it would still be 100% okay. If the end user decides to add anything, it’s out of the vendors hands.
