VapourSquonkalike & Velocityalike coiling advice

If you have a successful build in one of these you could recommend I'd be very happy to know it....

I have a coppervape clone from the Group Buy a few weeks back with a Velocity clone on board.

I started with a couple of claptons but 40w didn't have enough grunt so I've thrown in a couple of 8 wrap coils over a 2.4 mandrill using 26 gauge (about .4 or .5 ohm I forget now) and it's still shit, it just aint lighting them up right.

Anyways I'm low on kanthal wire have no Ni or Ti, and short on time but want to get squonking.

What're you successfully running on yours you'd care to share?

Not entirely sure which VapourSquonkalike you've got but the one I've got is sh1te, reads the atty fine, says it's putting out the right voltage and therefore power but there's no way in the world it is. Have you got another mod you can put the atty onto to check it? Obviously you'd have to manually drip it but at least you could rule out your build, you could even try another atty on your squonker to see if it powers it right.

Hmm I must have the same squonk as you I just tried the velocity on a sig150 at 40w and it sounds like a string of Chinese fire crackers. I reckon it was the same group buy Did you ever enquire about the fault or just put it down to caveat emptor?

Naa, I did pull it apart to see if I could see anything obvious but all the connections looked ok if a little rough. I keep meaning to swap the board but it's still sitting in the todo pile and probably will do for a while more yet, I've got other squonkers that are easier to get on with.

I'm really hoping you didn't do 8 wraps around a Mandrill - since this is a Mandrill...



and yes it IS a Blue arsed Baboon... Whereas this is a Mandrel (Albeit a ring mandrel)...



I think your autocorrect is trying to kill you - Mandrills are bad tempered buggers...
