Why am I getting a sore throat?

Smoking does all kinds of bad shit to your body, so when you stop smoking your body starts putting itself back together.

All down the back of your throat and windpipe are little hairs called Cillia that wave backwards and forwards. these act like a filter system that feeds all of the crap you breathe in (dust etc etc) out of your airways. Smoking kills these little hairs off. It's why you get a 'smokers cough' your body gets around the dead cillia by coating your airways with mucus which traps the crap you breathe in and it makes you cough it up from time to time (smokers cough)

When you stop smoking those little hairs grow back. If you've ever shaved some part of your body you'll know how itchy scratchy it can feel when the hair starts to regrow. Guess whats happening to the back of your throat. :) On top of that there is no longer a layer (or as much of a layer) of mucus there now so when you first switch from smoking to vaping your throat is more sensitive than it used to be.

It'll likely stop hurting so much as your body adjusts itself to what you are doing now. In the meantime drink lots and try using flavours/strengths that don't cause so much discomfort and really really try to avoid dry hits :)

I actually find menthol pretty rough. Try a RY4? Every vendor has a different version, but I've found them all a smooth vape so far.

I used to smoke 40 full strength super kings a day as some of you know i quit just over a month ago and now most juice im trying seems to hurt on the inhale like somebody drop kicking me in the chest and slamming a hammer into the back of my throat.
I was on 18mg and dropped down to 12mg 100%vg from @bestcigliquid but still its getting me in the throat.
cigs never did this and i dont wanna go back but i cant get a good vape on anything.
Im using a zmax and kanger protank 2

Exactly the same thing happened to me! Sore throat for the first month or so! Try not to vape so regularly and when you are vaping have a drink with you. Over time it gets better, I'm fine now and it's been 2 months.

I think it's because vapour is different to smoke and does dry your throat out more, just give it time.

Just to narrow it down a lil more... and since no one else has asked it...

when you vape, are you doing direct lung inhales(like with a fag), or are you holding it in your mouth and then inhaling it?(like drinking through a straw)

When I first started vapeing I did direct lung and it killed my throat, left it really sore and dry, trained myself to hold the vapor in my gob til I had finished drawing on the mouth piece and then inhale and no longer got the sore/dry throat unless I get dehydrated.

I'm not a huge fan of mint and menthol, so can't help you there, but you'll be able to get most flavours in 12mg. You could also try some 1ml testers from Smoke Rainbow: http://www.smokerainbow.com/fresh/ - most of them seem to come in low or medium nic.

In answer to your question, you can mix your 100% vg with 100% pg, it will give you a 50/50 pg/vg, which may or may not help?!

Tromain I've tried both ways and true direct inhaling is much worse and I prefer the other way because I get more of the flavour I think it's just my body detoxing and getting used to the nice clean vapour Il just keep trying different flavours and brands for now and don't direct inhale anything and see how I go
