It really doesn’t seem to matter what concessions they make does it ?So attempting to bribe us into putting ourselves in danger? How very Cummings.
Still not tempted to eat out anywhere.
The industry needs support until its, provably, safe for them to open. Not attempts to get us in, before it is so.It really doesn’t seem to matter what concessions they make does it ?
I would say this an attempt to get the economy going again.
and if you want to eat out it’s a good deal
remember you have a choice to use it or not
not for me personally I have to say - but wow - just think of what they are actually offering, I mean aside from your personal preferences on going out

Granted this is cheaper for the gov. But it's a big gamble to take, with everyone else health.
I'm all for eating out. But only when it's safe to do so. And it isn't and won't be for some time.
Yes we need a working economy. But trying to force the old ways to fit, isn't a realistic way forward. We need to plan and move to an economy that will work, in the current reality. Not just in the imagination of a gov advisor.
discounts to house buyers doesn't make sense in a country with too little housing. A traunch of house building would. And that way, either by rent or sales, the gov gets its money back with profit. It would also put money into the economy. Selling houses locks it away.
Not sure where personal choice comes in. I in now way said people shouldn't be allowed to go out.
No. This so called concession isn't even remotely where we should be starting.
Maybe they think a fiver of a meal will in some way salve the up to 4 million people we will soon have, unemployed, as furlough is stopped. The vast majority of which we have no jobs to offer, in an economy that can't work, under its current strictures.
They have already given the industry (and otherS) a fair old whack of Support - they have hardly left them to rot.
by personal choice - I meant you don’t HAVE to go out and eat, you can choose not too - I suspect the majority will choose not too (me included)
They have done loads for furloughed workers and industry - the economy has to be kick started - businesses and restaurants or whatever employ and support people which is the end game - people - it makes sense to start there and the foundations of employment.
I think they know it’s likely to be a slow return, hence why offering it now.
Yes I get and understand that - that has to an extent always been a problem though - with what I’ve seen so far with this iteration of the current gov (which has hugely surprised me) I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they will address it and other things - these last few months have all been about trying to slap on bandaids during an unprecedented crisis - I think you are right in that they have probably not had time to sort each individual area out yet. I should imagine it’s been pretty full on.I agree with you, but there are no long term structural changes being announced, it might be too early for the Government to have had the time to consider that aspect and formulate a long term plan, but there are glaring gaps already. Will people who are forced to use foodbanks be able to afford to go into a cafe, restaurant or pub that serves food, even when discounted? I doubt it. People, many people, many families, are spending food money topping up or paying extortionate rents, however, the landlords can take that money and go out for a lovely discounted meal. It's just one example.
