And there lies the problem with devolved governments on a tiny island...

Let Yorkshire, sorry, Scotland, rule itself. What currency they gonna use ? EU won't let them in 'cos their national debt is way too big. So the Euro's out. Not sure they'd like to continue with GBP, but don't think they have any other options ?

Sign up to what? Participating restuarants, takeaways etc will be offering the discount Monday to Wednesday from August 1st. Does not include alcohol on the bill.

There seems to be a bit of confusion creeping in to this matter.
The discount only applies to restaurants, not takeaways.

I had a huge amount of bother, returning from a weekend in bonny Scotland, exchanging Scottish £20 notes in Yorkshire.

Probably didn't help by saying, "Mind the ink, it's stilll wet".
