i disagree. if that was the case then the charger would be outputting 5v to the battery. all of the ego chargers i've used have a pcb in them (i opened them and checked) and also state the output mah and voltage on them. batteries would also charge four times faster if connected to a 2.1amp supply then they would if connected to a 500mah one. this isn't the case with any charger i've used. a good ego charger cuts off and stops charging when the battery is full, regardless of the power supply it's connected to.

Well that's what a resistor would be for, ie, to drop the 5V down to (4.2?).
But point taken.
Thing is, most ego chargers look the same outside. How to know yours is a good one? Batts do explode as the media keep telling us..

it doesn't make a difference imo as it's not the higher current that will make the battery explode, it's because it's been charged to 5v instead of 4.2v. that's when lithium batteries get dangerous. i charge my ego battery from any available usb port, even the one for my tablet because i'm confident my charger is safe.

OK thanks.

I take it the MVP can pretty much be charged with any USB charger?

yeah dude, i expect it has a little board in it connected between the usb port and the battery that works like an ego charger. kind of like the usb charging board for the DNA boards.

That's what I was thinking.

i think the offending ones look more like a cig-a-like charger, the ones that don't have a wire and the usb plug and the 510 connector are on the same piece of plastic. Tubbyengineer showed me a pic of one, i'm trying to find it now.

Never 'mix n match' this very smart person has obviously purchased an ego kit (probably from a market store) and then screwed it into her E-Lites charging device and then in turn plugged that into her iPhone charger.

Here is what the mensa champion Keeley Cooper had to say -
"I’ll never buy another e-cigarette and have no intention of returning to normal cigarettes.

If anybody has an electronic cigarette I recommend you get rid of it now. This is the result of one blowing up. Me and the kids have nothing left. It just isn’t worth it."

Pretty sure it can.
Check it's power requirements first and see if your USB plug is up to the task.
