i disagree. if that was the case then the charger would be outputting 5v to the battery. all of the ego chargers i've used have a pcb in them (i opened them and checked) and also state the output mah and voltage on them. batteries would also charge four times faster if connected to a 2.1amp supply then they would if connected to a 500mah one. this isn't the case with any charger i've used. a good ego charger cuts off and stops charging when the battery is full, regardless of the power supply it's connected to.
Well that's what a resistor would be for, ie, to drop the 5V down to (4.2?).
But point taken.
Thing is, most ego chargers look the same outside. How to know yours is a good one? Batts do explode as the media keep telling us..
