I'm very sorry the puppy died, that's so sad but for the bbc to blame the product is a pretty cheap attempt at making a news story.
When I've been painting I have used fairly toxic art materials but I acknowledge their dangers and exercise sensible precautions treating them with due respect. If anything ever happened (touch wood never does) then it would be my responsibility, I wouldn't blame the manufacturers or call the media, I would have accept responsibility. The same applies to many things we have around the home, chemicals and dangerous objects. Nicotine is labelled as toxic, precautions should be taken. You can't negate this responsibility, this is a sad story but the lesson here is to treat such substances with sensible precautions not blame the product.
Many children, sadly are admitted to hospital each year having drank or eaten toxic substances that can found around the home, does this mean we should put extreme limitations on their availability? The way is usually to educate people and I can't see why this can't be applied to nicotine liquid etc. Double standards going on here methinks and a slow news day for BBC Cornwall
