I quite like the V6 clone I have but it doesn't quite make the grade next to the UD Goblin although they do seem very similar to me in many ways. Anyway I'm thinking of giving it's air holes the old hot steel injection I wondered if anyone here has done the same already and if they have any useful info to contribute on the subject?

thanks,
MM

Make sure you use a proper drill press. It's a little tough- use carbide bits (you'll be there for hours if you try with titanium bits).
And try and use a depth gauge- even if it's just a paperclip to know how deep to go. Insert your depth gauge, mark off your depth on your drill bit and go for it.
YouTube has a couple of tutorials too. If I can remember which one was the most helpful I'll post a link for ya.
And don't forget to use oil to keep everything cool while you're drilling. Best of luck.

You don't think I'll be able to wing it free hand with a cobalt bit then? I'll have to invest in a press drill I reckon.

You can wing it. Not everyone has a press, my friend, but maybe a friend or a local shop could bore it out for you. I'd do it for you if you lived here. Best of luck tho.
Be sure to put it in a vice or at least vice grips to hold onto it and go for it.
After (a lot of) practice I've gotten good at drilling attys by hand, but their's so little metal to deal with I barely need to anchor things.
Good luck- Thomas

Probably better I invest in a budget press drill. It'll only get used for atties and probably vape stands. My pal reckons the old ones are the best to buy, 2nd hand. What you reckon on the brands punting budget press drills any views? Silverline do one for about £70 but in my experience with Silverline products, it's only worth owning if it has very few moving parts, like alu. feather edges!

I normally only buy Makita gear but it's dear, and has to lead a harsh life. I don't really recognise any of the brands punting out budget press drills

Buy cheap, buy twice, sometimes thrice!

It'll be best to get one. Once you get the itch to drill- you'll end up with prefect holes in everything.
I love my makita press but my cheap little Ryobi has been my go-to.
You are correct in that a second hand press would be the best way to go. I live in Hawaii so it's pretty easy to find all sorts of machinery on Craigslist.
If you need it done fast don't forget that most universitys have auto shop/machinist classes, they would probably do it for free too.
Feel free to message me when you have anymore questions- especially when you find a press you're thinking about. A good old belt drive press would get the job done and will last you the rest of your life.

Being in Hawaii I don't know too much about the cost of tools in the UK. Google has been my go-to for damn near all my info, but things come down to how well do you know how to operate the machinery needed to accomplish what you're trying to do? I started out with a used drill press the old high school nearby was throwing out. That one drill got chopped up and turned into a really crappy lathe. Let me know what you're familiar with and I'm sure I can help tho.
