coil, cannot get 1.8 ohm????

Hi Guys

I bought these ready made wires see pic



Now i have tried nearly everything but just cannot get 1.8 ohms out of them they always read above 2ohms....after winding coil and snipping excess off still 2.1 or above???

What am I doing wrong?

Now i am using voodoo wool which I bought which is 2.5mm big mistake should of gone with 2mm or less its not giving me taste of juice and not burning properly...

Ive tried less wraps and bigger folds such as 5 wraps or smaller folds and more wraps such as 6 or 7 but still no go?

What is it that gives the ohms length of wire and depending on how many wraps so more wraps more ohms and less wraps less ohms???

Please advice?

Try unwinding one of the coils or maybe 2... should make it lower... if they are ready coiled... and less excess stuff also can make a difference (so snip off excess once tightened)... I use ready made silica wick and coil assemblies sometimes and that lowers my ohms... should be same principle

Okay i unwrapped a 2.4 ohm coil I had and placed it straightened against these and notice the inside bit of the coil which is soldered to the legs is about 5mm longer compared to the 2.4 ohm coil i have could that be the problem longer inside wire thats soldered to the legs

Also if i unwrap a few coils it makes the legs longer.... now im trying to get these through very tiny holes wich is fine but where the solder joint is will not go through so unwrapping a few coils will make it quite odd sitting much higher than its suppose too??

Ah... mine have no solder on. That makes it more problematic I guess... maybe you are just stuck with the ohms they are pre-built at...

If they are 1.8 as a straight length then putting any twists or turns in them will increase the resistance.

On normal .17 kanthal 5 wraps gives me 1.7 / 1.8.

I can't see how you will get a lower resistance to be honest.

Ahaa, i guess they should advertise with more info then, time for some modification i guess but what a waste of money

It may be salvageable. .. so don't bin them yet... there are many more knowledgeable people on here about this stuff... so be patient and an answer may be forthcoming. .. try looking on mod and diy section for more advice... todd's reviews and etc... there will be a way you just need someone who knows more about what you are using... more info on it may help...

If they were from stealth vape they should be bang on got a pack of 1.5's 1.8's n 2.2's I dont use them anymore as prefer straight up kathal now but they came out on the money every time for me.

ive build coils before so did a little mod de soldered one leg off from solder joint and cut about 7mm of the kanthal wire off and re soldered leg wrapped back on voodoo coil and it turned out better so a little more snipping and should hit spot on....

Regarding the coils as they are straight their ohm readin is around 3.1???? odd
