Coils- WTF am i doing wrong?

Thought i would fire this thread up again to keep it all in one place.

My latest build did the same as the last one. At first i was getting quite a lot of gurgling but then it calmed down as before and i was getting great taste and all was good. After a few days though i am finding that i am still getting good flavour but i can only take smaller hits as it does start to taste burnt if i 'go for it' .

At the end of this tank i will try a different sort of coil but I will wick it the same way i did last time. I still think that i might be doing something wrong as i get the gurgling at the start but i can work with it!

Try wicking using the Scottish or sushi roll, I've sorted my wicking out using the Scottish roll method except for the occasional seepage thing's are going ok.
Hope you get it sorted.
Just my big tanks I'm having probs with, both reload and creed start leaking if I fill them more than half way,I am getting better as it's just a little bit, flavour is good.
Oh well,more to learn haha

Ok, thanks for that tip. I tried a 'scottish roll' and It didnt seem to work very well for me.

I really don't know what is going on. it seems completely random whether i get good taste or not. I have replaced the coil and wick again today and so far it is just making me cough and it is not tasting good at all.

I am starting to think the juices might be the problem and i only have one juice that tastes ok! (sticky toffee pudding by UK VAPE) I did load up some Arctic roll yesterday and i was ok, but not really enjoyable. On my 'old' tank (non rebuildable) i just wasnt getting great flavour from these other juices either but they didnt taste bad like they do with this tank.

I have lots of flavours to try so i guess i will start trying all sorts of different ones to see if i can pinpoint an issue.

ETA: god damn..Just rewicked and re coiled again and tried to use a little less cotton this time as i thought the last one might have been too 'fat'. The amount of cotton i am using creates a little resistance as i am pulling it through the coil but then i am thinning out the ends and only putting about a quarter of that amount into the juice channels. It all looks really good and the coil is nice and tidy but it is gurgling and spitting juice like nobodies business. I have tried upping the wattage to 90+ (i usually only have it at about 70) but that just makes the juice i get in my mouth even hotter! Right, i am off to see if there are any videos on how to use this tank that i haven't watched already!

This is a right faff!

I bet my tanks gurgle and spit ,but I'm deaf so it don't bother me,haha.
Some coils stink and will make you cough.
I was reading on here the other day about someone who hand makes top coils for members, apparently he's very good and the price is good, now I've got this far I'm thinking of getting some from him.
Can't find the thread now.

I have no experience with that rta, it does seem to be a somewhat finicky thing to get right (from what I read). Alien this or pretend alien this or that is all very well and it's not the greatest wire for flavour imo, great for clouds of course, but you have a single coil restricted lung inhale rta, which isn't really about clouds. I would suggest a back to basics round wire build or flat wire build, 24/25awg, 3mm ID. I recall many gurgling issues from my mtl days, the tanks weren't an easy build back then (2015/16). What cotton are you using?

I might well be interested in some of those coils too!

i have just put in another fresh coil from my cheapo pack and i put less cotton in again so there was even less resistance and then i primed it even less as i think i may be over priming. I am getting less gurgling this time and more vape but i am still getting very little flavour and it is really harsh/dry not sure how to describe it. I have also just seen that this coil is registering at .8ohm on my mod and it is supposed to be less than .5ohm

I am now also noticing that when i take my finger off the button it continues to 'fizz' for a few seconds. not sure what that means!

I don't think any of my coils are just regular round wire! the closest i seem to have is 'Alien Clapton' which is a bit flat looking. the cotton i am using is 'cotton Bacon prime'.

This is the Alien Clapton, excuse the lighting it was the best way i could do it :) When i watch video's on people 'building' the coils never seem to be tight like this one?

The cotton is fine, you could try spacing the coil, putting it on a screwdriver and easing the wraps apart slightly, when I have problems with wicking and esp. flavour I often look at spaced coils. The height of the coil as well, perhaps lift it up a tad.

Not the best image but one that shows a tidy coil

It is impossible to get my coils THAT tidy as i either have to rewrap premade coils or bend them to make the tails point the right way. I am about to start again (again) as what i just did was unvapeable (again). I will use the coil from the picture above and take photo's as best i can :)

I'd unwrap that and wrap it in the opposite direction, place the wire under the screwdriver starting left and up and over, you can space it at the same time.
