What's new

complete noob is an understatement, am I on the right track?

I want to thank everyone for their assistance so far and only hope I do not make a nuisance of myself as I try to figure this vaping thing out :)

Thus far we have narrowed down the mod (what I call the power supply) to the Innokin SVD with the 18600 battery. I have admit I am not a huge fan of the looks of it but the reviews are up there. If you have a suggestion of another please ring in.

Now, I am torn between 3 clearomisers, maybe you can help here too. I like that they are bottom coil, seems reviewers are more prone to accepting them as well. I love that all have glass tubes and use the same coil so I do not need to keep a supply of different coils handy. So I am thinking maybe I should get 2 so I have different flavors to try until I choose what I like. The options are...

DBox PuriTank
Kanger ProTank II
AnyVape Davide Glassomizer

All 3 seem to have similar reviews, so what do I do? How many just flip a coin? :banghead:

While you ponder over this I will go check out some juice, thanks Chegs I have a feeling this will more difficult than what I have done so far.

Thank you again for all your help
Rick

i have all 3 and the glassomizer with duel bottom coils is by far the best imo

Hey Filterless and welcome to the forums.

first off do not concern yourself with worrying about being new to vaping, we are all happy to help, no question is a silly question.

if you get the SVD from MyePack.co.uk then you will get a couple of i clear 30's a good charger and batteries too for £50 which is a great price and Ash is a nice guy.

i have the protank 2, and while it is good, i would probably suggest staying with top coils at the minute as it can get annoying with flooding and gurgling especially when you are new.. I have been vaping for about 3 or 4 months now and it still frustrates me, i find my kayfun's much easier to build right.

I wouldn't worry too much about what watts to vape at, start at 6, have a few vapes, then go up by .5's til you either get the taste you want, or you get a burnt tatse . If you get a burnt taste back it down again by .5 or 1 watt and there you go. This is juice dependant sometimes.. Some juices can be pushed harder than others, same with atomizers too.

Oh, I find myself watching many of the reviews by PBusardo on youtube as well as sooo many forum postings. Are his reviews reliable?

While he can be a little OTT for my liking at times, he does do reliable reviews, many of which are vey helpful to get to grips with new things like how to make a coil etc. I've got 3 reviewers I go to when I need info: PBusardo, Todd, and Igetcha69. Todd being my favored one as he seems to make me laugh in every video! =p

My goodness Filterless, you are obviously of a much more technical bent than me. I've been vaping for a couple of months now and am struggling to follow this conversation! I hope all your research comes to fruition, but as everyone has said the set up that works for each person is different, so it you don't get the perfect result straight away don't get disheartened and keep trying.

I can understand the desire to get the best when you are making such a big step, I ended up with a couple of Ego 1000 batteries that I don't use anymore as due to my lack of research I thought more expensive was better rather than larger...

Within a week I had settled on an Ego650 and CE4 set up and am still with it, despite owning a couple of mini protanks I actually prefer my CE4 and the vv and vw stuff just baffles me!

FilterLess. OK I'll try to answer as much as I can for you...

The Variable Voltage / Variable Wattage (VV/VW) use is explained here http://wiki.planetofthevapes.co.uk/wiki/VV/VW_FAQ. This will let you know how to use the settings.

Which device? you've shown an interest in the Innokin 134 & SVD, Both are good but for a new user I'd advise you to steer away from the 134 as there is no diplay or anything else just the fire button and a click to position power ring. You mentioned not being keen on the looks of the SVD - true it's not to everyones taste.

Which device you buy depends on budget as much as anything else. There are a fair number of VV/VW devices, iTaste vv, Vamo, Zmax, Lavatube, SVD, EVic, Smoktec SID, Provari, Semovar SM3 which are all tube mods of varying prices. Then there are the Box mods the cheapest of which are the MVP2 and the VTR both by Innokin. Then you have the option of getting a Mech mod - of which there are literally hundreds and using it with a "Kick" which is a small circuit board that drops inside the mod and allows you to preset the wattage - fine once you've figured out your preffered setting. I can recommend the SVD - I have one myself but look through the reviews first.

Reviewers - The little orange god of vaping PBusardo is probably one of the best known, he gives his opinion but lets you see lots of the device too so you can make up your own mind, Scotts reviews is the other one I watch too - again he gives his opinion but lets you see plenty of the device to make up your own mind.

Tanks, any of the three you mention are good tanks, the Aspire BDC range are excellent as are the Protank2 but for cheap and cheerful the Evod is also a great buy, but be careful some juice will crack the Plastic liners of cheaper tanks however for the most part they're fine

Juice - This one you really have to do by yourself but there are guidelines, Choose the right strength if you smoked unfiltered then probably 24mg or 36mg - try 24 first, if you seem to be getting no effect try 36. PG/VG More PG gives more flavour and throat hit so you probably will need 70/30 juice to start with, you can always change that as you go on. Flavours remember that the tobacco flavours taste like the tobacco not the smoke from the tobacco (that bit where you open the pack and breathe in the aroma fresh from the pack) Other flavours can be exactly as the name implies or miles off, you just have to take your pick - nut if there is a vape store near you they usually let you try out the juices and are a great source of advice as well.

If you still need help feel free to ask more questions...

I have much to reply to and will as soon as I respond here but I wanted this one on its own so as not to be overlooked.

I have read their site and, while they do not say they don't, do they ship internationally? Only thing i can find is the statement "We use Royal Mail recorded delivery for all of our UK deliveries". I added to cart and filled out the estimate shipping but no change to total.

OK, on the the other reply, this will take a minute LOL

Hi, I've bought juices from Mountain Oak Vapors (USA) and they have great customer service. Loved the juices, I've just changed to Local suppliers now. The tobacco flaours could be a good place to start, they are tobacco + fruit, worth a look.

I like Igetcha69 as well but OTT is more my style, I like hard hitting and informative, have not run across Todd yet but I am sure to keep an eye out for him. I will of course make up my own mind in the end but the help here has been phenomenal. :P

Oh Please toot my horn some more :), no don't think that. I spend most of my day reading forums and enjoy learning so this is really making me a happy man. A LOT to learn :)

I even have links to SS mesh, resistance wire, and organic undyed cotton yarn for later (yea that is a way off yet) but I am having fun and that is what will keep me doing it.
I have been reading for a while now, when I started I was going to get Imist Battery mega 1100 and a Vision 2 V3+ CE5 so I have come a long way. I am sure I have a long way to go yet and with your help it will be an enjoyable ride.

I might be looking at this wrong and if so please correct me, but I am currently spending in excess of $55 US a week smoking. That is almost $250 US a month doing something it is killing me and making my son uncomfortable. So if I spend one months worth (give or take) starting this, it “should” pay itself back within 6 months (calculating for juice, coils, and other monthly supplies).

Then you have the option of getting a Mech mod - of which there are literally hundreds and using it with a "Kick" which is a small circuit board that drops inside the mod and allows you to preset the wattage - fine once you've figured out your preffered [sic] setting.
This is actually something I was weary of until I watched a few mod videos and read a few hundred forum posts, now I am honestly looking forward to it.:read: But I do need to get started first, get a feel for what I like and gain your friendship so I can butter up to you for that valuable intel.:friends: LOL

but be careful some juice will crack the Plastic liners of cheaper tanks
Read that too, that is my reasoning for going for glass to start, not sure what juice I will be using so best to side with caution. My opinion anyway.

Man this topic is killing me, not sure what way to go atm, but thank you for suggesting 24mg, that is a huge step in the right direction. And No vape store within 60 miles. I have read the wiki and many postings on the subject and only have more questions :banghead: .

When I started this research I was thinking I would get one mod with 2 batteries, 2 clearomizers and a couple juices... now I fear it will end up being a few mods, a dozen clearomizers and a few hundred juices. WOW there are a lot of options just to vape.

Picking juices has to be the hardest part. Now even harder knowing the tobacco flavor is not “the taste of a cigarette” but the flavor of the tobacco within. Who eats the tobacco? LOL now I am thinking Pineapple, Strawberry/Banana, Cheese Cake, OMG the list is endless.

Glad we have been of help Filterless. Juices are a minefield, but starting out in ignorance I actually did enjoy tobacco flavoured to start with and still use it now whilst having a beer. So I would say don't discount it, it may be that I just got lucky but the fairly generic (555 from Vapeescape) that came with my starter kit worked for me to begin with and is what I'm vaping now after a couple of pre Crimbo pints with the (also fairly new) hubby.
