Dotshell new user and help

This is a picture of my current wicking
Perhaps if you used a dual core coil you wouldn`t need so much power in ramp up or to get a decent vape, the wick looks fine to me but as I said I dont use a boro device.

Is the popping all through your hit or just when you first press the fire button, if it`s all through the hit I`ve found it`s usually when I use spaced coils or my wicking isn`t quite right (not enough juice getting to the coil), if it only pops when you you hit the fire button, have you selected a powerful initiation in your menu?
I prefer the crackling, it means my juice is atomising properly and I`m getting max flavour.

thank you for this advice, I have rewicked and the popping has definitely been alleviated with not putting juice straight onto the coil when priming- I just get the expecting crackling now which is tolerable and normal- I think I just need to work on my wicking now to realy fine tune it

hi Vince, as I mentioned I’m trying to get a MTL setup for 50/50 nic salts as my daily carry- I’ve moved away from carrying around large mods and hauling big bottles of juice now - boro/dot devices are definitely the way to go now imo

If priming your coil causes popping it should stop after a few drags, in any other atty I would say that with the power required to drive the mass of metal in your coil you risk scorching your wick and tainting your vape.

hi there please could you explain what you mean by this? Mine before was popping and crackling every time I used it- what would I be doing wrong if this was the case

I meant that if priming your coil caused popping, after a few drags the excess juice will have been vapourised and the popping would stop.
The coil in you picture looks a bit hefty for MTL, a coil with less mass wouldn`t need as much power to drive it

Ahh I see, and hmm it is a MTL coil alien Clapton 0.64 that’s come out around 0.82 - pic below of a few days use. I’m using the 1.5mm insert too- I’m guessing maybe that’s the issue do they need a bit more airflow through them?

You can get complex MTL Coils, Naturevape do some nice 1 ohm ones. I generally use 28 Gauge, 6 or 7 wraps usually Kanthal unless i am using TC.
