Expensive RBA's - Are they worth it

Suggest you open the RSST's air hole as soon as you receive it.

If it's SS then I probably won't be able to, I don't have a drill with a low enough RPM apparently you need 300 RPM with a cobalt drill bit for SS and lubrication. Anything with a High RPM only makes it heat up and make the SS more stronger. That was one of the gripes I had with the AGA T2

I used a Black & Decker variable speed drill & a plain ol' metal drill-bit.Cooling was by dipping the drill-bit in a cap full of engine oil.Fair enough,it took a half-hour to drill the hole out,but that was nothing compared to my first foray into drilling ss with a Dremel-clone & its 22 watt motor...that was 3 hours lying on the floor in agony(my spines fucked)just to enlarge one hole(I wanted two)swearing at the shitty clones feebleness. To drill a completely new hole in my ss caps,I just tape over the cap(cheap rolls of plastic insulation tape)to build a layer of tape, mark the spot I want the hole & start drilling.A little care until the drill-bit has cut into the metal before applying any kind of force & a couple minutes once the hole is completed, with the Dremel+grindstone to remove any burrs & thats it,job done. Then a total scrub/wash/boil in soapy water removes any oil residue & the result is..clouds of vapour without needing a hoover pipe up my butt.

Drilling out the airhole on the RSST definitely helps! I would like the top cap on the RSST to fit a bit more snug.. Also, when you remove the top cap, be careful not to touch your wick and wire.. Your resistance will be off if this happens..

The RSST has a nice thin top cap making it easy to drill. Every other cap Ive drilled have been a pain big time. Another plus for the RSST. Ive got a taifun GT on order so can someone tell me if it needs drilling?

Are the more expensive ones actually worth the money? would I end up going through a load of cheap clones, when I could just get a decent RBA to start with?

Is a Mercedes worth it? Why not buy a Fiat 500 instead? Both will get you to work every day so why spend the extra money? ;)

A lot of it is better engineering, more expense put into how something it put together and where things are. Comfort, style, etc etc. Expensive kit is absolutely worth every penny.

Of course, some expensive stuff can still turn out to be complete tat. I'd recommend giving something like the Arashi a look - superb piece of kit, more expensive but not unachievable.

Better? Yes, Worth it? Debatable to a point. I do own a few clones but I also own the real deal. I enjoy the chase I guess high end product, save up grab one, rinse and repeat its half the enjoyment for me and I'm yet to find a clone with the same finish as the real deal but different strokes for different folks. I say spend what you can afford and if you have to question it then its probably not for you. Likewise if principle is the problem. No harm in enjoying what's to offer from each market its a buyers market after all.

It's everyone's own choice really if you're happy enough to lay out the cash by all means go for it but wouldn't it be a good idea to try the clone first then if you like it get the real thing that's the way I'm going about it

It will depend on the actual atty model itself. some are just quickly copied from the look of the real one while many are identical copies that work very well.
a good case of this is the Tiafun Gt i have a few clones and some real ones. depending on which copy you look at some cant even use the same parts, and all the clones have press fit air tubes with reports of them falling out for some people.

the Kraken is another fine example i have two clones that are 2 different sizes and one has a threaded top cap while one is pressfit, with the cheapest versions shipping with a dead short in the Pos pins. while they do work fine sometimes buying the real deal is a no brainer like the DID's so far all the cheap copies(many labeled cobras for some reason) dont come close to the same quality and I wouldt expect them to last.

The RSST is a copy of the AC9 and one of the first clones to start the latest wave of 1:1 copies that directly match the original design.

Last year the choice was easy, lately the newer wave of clones is pretty good quality for the prices.
