Gov wanting to increase tax on vaping

The reason they don't tax some companies enough is fear. Fear of the companies taking their business to another country. The Gov would rather have a little bit of tax rather than none.
Money talks, money rules. It is without doubt one of the worst inventions ever. Problem now is to much money is now owned by the few so the pot shared by the masses is to small to cope and it will keep getting worse as interest goes on money borrowed that shared pot gets smaller as the super rich pot grows and the word for it is GREED.

Oh I know. As a person that is on the sharp end of the taxation system I'd rather that a company like Starbucks, Apple or Vodafone fuck off somewhere else than basically ignore our taxation system. Would the country be worse off without Starbucks? No, the trade would just move to Costa or similar.

And forgive me for being blunt, but online petitions are, without exception, a pastime of the deluded and a complete waste of time. It's just a mouse click by people who can't be bothered to get out and actually DO something. Anyone can sign a petition, it means precisely nothing and doesn't oblige anyone to do anything. The only power you have to influence politicians is at the ballot box, which means you're just going to have to wait for an election and campaign against every candidate who wants to get you smoking again and kill you for your tax money.
That's why contacting your MP to ask where they stand and that it is a decision issue for you, might make a small difference?

This was the reply from my MP....

Dear Jacky,

Thank you for taking the time to email me, it is appreciated.

I absolutely understand how vaping can help people move off smoking, not only as you have described, but I have also seen it with many people I know.

There were various concerns previously raised about the safety and quality of vaping, but the industry have been working with the Government and my understanding is that significant improvements have been delivered as this new technology settles – this is very welcome.

I’ll keep an eye out if there are any planned consultations announced to look at the rules or regulations, but I am encouraged that the industry is working with the Government, that is the best approach.

Kind regards, Justin

Any translations?

she just fogged u off mate

It's not really that much of an issue, no?

But going forwards people need to be more self sufficient because its not going to get any better.

If you use rebuildable tanks and the like that's a good proportion of ongoing costs gone.

Buy mods etc from China and they will likely go through the postal service without a hitch, just as they always have done.

Unless there's some liquid you really must have from a shop then go the DIY route, there's a whole world of 'one shot concebtrates' out there, PG and VG is impossible to tax other than VAT as its used in countless places, christ you can walk in to any chemists and buy it.

I can't remember the last time I went to a shop to buy stuff for vaping, which will be the main way any extra tax is added because it's nigh on impossible if you buy from the far east or even within Europe.

Yeah we can get ahead of it, but it's confusing enough for a smoker to delve into the vaping world. These shits just wanna make it harder!

We will end up at the same point. Most eliquids bought in the UK will be owned by the tobacco companies and they will be more expensive than tobacco but it will be pushed as the responsible, healthy choice. Then the tax will roll back in two fold.
Bit if we can delay that inevitability, I'm all for it.

I agree and mixing our own juice is definitely the way to go. The government will tax whatever they can and pre-made juice could get very expensive.

I bought 2.0ltrs of VG Nic from Darkstar so I am all set for a while. At 6mg strength juice it should last quite a while.
