What's new

Had it with Leaky Mini Protank 2, Protank 2 . New clearo for VamoV5 recommendations?

I have 2 Protank 2's that I use everyday and only rarely do they leak and it would be only a little. I make my own coils in the old heads with res/no res wire and cotton.

I did buy some replacement Kanger coils from Vaper Caper for a week away so I didn't have to arse about recoiling and they were fine, no leaks at all. As mentioned above I'd maybe try out the NVape coil.

There is also another alternative apart from a top coil and wicks to avoid the dreaded gurgle which is the cartomiser tank. Basically a cartomiser is similar to the cartridge you get for cigalikes but made from metal and someone had the bright idea of punching holes or slots in them and putting them inside a tank so they refill themselves. Smoktech make the Pyrex DCT (Dual Coil Tank) and cartomisers for them or in plastic Boge is probably the cheapest and more widely available.

The only tank I've ever had leak was a dodgy kanger ts3 and that was because they did.

There is no reason the current range of Aspire, Kanger, Vision, Nova will leak! 99% it's user error

Leaking Tanks? Bah! I blame fekking youtube and wannabee vaping gurus seeking their five minutes of fame!!
As said above, most issues are user issues, but will fekking you tube maestros say that? No, they never do!
Result? ( and I've been there done that in my naïve days ) A user with an issue, does a quick browse for tutes and fixes, dives in, adds extra wicking, turns gromets upside down and/or a 101 waste of time 'solutions' and never ever does get to the bottom of how and why they had issues in the first place. Thus the cycle continues and the number of 'leaking/gurgle' whingers increases along with the number of dissatisfied users. I don't mean to slate "whingers" as, if your getting problems, the whinging is fully justified.
I'm not saying that folks should not use the plethora of tweaks and fixes, only that, imo, most issues can be resolved without user modifications, They are very much over rated, imo.

When I was pretty new with protank style tanks and had a few beginners issues, I wish somebody had advised "start again, new coil, check it's all assembled correctly" instead of "add more flavour wick, add another grommet, turn a grommet upside down"

But as I posted in my review of Protank 3, they should work out of the box and shouldn't need modifying and tweaking: When I buy a new car I don't expect to have to fit new tires and windscreen wipers before I can drive it. Looking back at the history of vaping everyone was happy with three-part battery, atomiser and cartridge. Then that became the cartomiser and everyone was still happy and then the cartomiser tank and everyone was even happier. Then there was the big bang with a plethora of new devices and people became unhappy because the freaking things had faults. And then along came dual coils which doubled the faults. It seems to me that the best way to go is back to the time when we were happy! I have a Boge F15 winging its way to me as I write this just to try it :)
