Did you prime the coil by adding juice to the holes on the side of the coil before putting it in the tank, do that on any new coil prior to putting it in the tank, then fill and leave it to sit in the juice for 10 mins, then start off at low wattage say 15 or 20w, take a few blasts then increase it by 5w, do the same few blasts then increase it again and keep doing it in 5w increases till you get to your desired wattage, you wont get much taste or vapour but it will break the coil in
suspect you have let it sit in juice then vaped it at high wattage, this will usually burn the coil and you wont get rid of that taste cut your losses and stick a new one in there do as I said above and you should be good to go, other than that it could be a dud/faulty coil can happen but never had a dud freemax coil
