If you often get sore throat or lungs - READ THIS

I have always had a favourite phrase that I’ve always stuck by and it has always stood me in good stead.

“THE TRUTH IS YOUR BEST WEAPON”.

It’s never let me down yet. We all know how bad it is to get caught on a lie. The truth is lovely because the evidence will always back you up and then you can weaponize truth and beat the crap out of people with it. Lies have a horrible habit of exploding in your face and kicking you up the arse.

I’ve had a couple of days more to think about this thread and why I started it.

It’s because EVERY SINGLE TIME when anyone came on here for advice about soreness and burning THE FIRST THING that gets mentioned is PG.

Defaulting to PG is the wrong place to start.

I posted the Safety Data Sheet on my opening post which tells you all nicotine is a POISON which in it’s pure form can kill just by getting through your skin.

Some of you, quite rightly, have said that other things like PG or some flavourings when you heat them up can produce harmful chemicals that some people can’t tolerate. And, of course, we mustn't forget about our coils and cotton.

So think about this logically.

PG is a mostly harmless substance which is used quite happily in many products. The same can be said for flavourings which are also food grade but they all have the potential to become harmful if you heat them up.

THEN WHAT DO YOU THINK HEATING UP A KNOWN POISON LIKE NICOTINE WILL DO?

If you find a particular flavour or base liquid doesn’t agree with you then what if you combine it with heated nicotine. You end up with TWO substances working together to make the problem worse.

So why is it that EVERY TIME everyone wants to dance around the elephant in the room and just bang on about PG allergy or flavourings but no one wants to even mention nicotine as a suspect?

By doing that you’re lying to yourselves.

I’m not going to stop vaping.

I love vaping.

I’ve got 10 years of built up knowledge about vaping and I’ve also personally experienced the effect of it on my own lungs and throat and, yes, I regularly get problems of soreness and burning all the way from my mouth to my lungs.

If I want to deal with it I first have to identify the real reason for it and figure out how to overcome it.

So where should I start?

Of course other things in my vape could be contributing factors but the first and most obvious place to start has to be NICOTINE. How much is in my juice and how much am I ingesting? Like I said, the only thing I vape is my DTL RTA and I suck in big lung fulls with every puff.

When someone comes on here looking for your help and you start by straight away banging on about PG allergies or dodgy flavours as your first go to and trying to pretend the NICOTINE ELEPHANT right in front of you doesn’t exist you are doing far more harm than good.

If you can’t handle the uncomfortable truth that nicotine has to be TOP OF THE LIST as the first thing to consider then you’re lying to yourselves.

in my case regarding the 50/50 liquid it was a 30ml nic salt that felt like it was ripping my throat to bits & it was only the lemon flavour that did it, the rest i can & still do vape with no issues, so NO it was not dodgy flavourings as you put it & oh im not lying to myself or anybody else just stating a fact !

i also know what flavours that irritate my throat its only happen once to me & i regulary vape nic salts & shortfills & i dont have a problem with those or as you put it burning of the throat & lungs

ps ive been vaping 11 years & so know my own body & lungs which are checked every year as i have COPD so again nic was not my problem

The truth is the best weapon in a fight, when you are in a fight, you have found a solution to your problem, others have found their own solutions by a different route, where`s the fight?

Somebody may be disappointed because they haven't been given a Troll Badge? I say give up and move on, they're trying too hard.

And I believe you.

So the juice you describe contains lemon and it also contains 3% nicotine.

So what happens if you vape the same flavour with no nicotine?

Here's a thought.

If someone insists this forum is prone to overstressing PG allergies as the cause of sore throats, and not a POSSIBLE cause, why don't they provide evidence instead of constantly insisting it is "THE TRUTH".

The correct way to establish something as fact (or THE TRUTH if you will) is to provide empirical evidence - NOT to constantly claim this is the TRUTH, now you must prove me wrong.

Interesting that a very few of us have experienced "issues" with Citrus flavoured Liquids? I believe it was @Mitz that first mentioned Lime? I have discovered that whilst Lime has been a long time favourite for me (I drink unsweetened Lime Juice all day, everyday and have done so for approx 5 years now) The ONLY time I have really run into trouble was with a Key Lime Pie liquid, it really did rip my throat to pieces. Interests me that Lemon is also getting mentioned? I haven't yet run into problems with the Lemon liquids I use, but I am always cautious, particularly with a Citrus liquid that is well aged.

Fair enough. Although 10mg still has nicotine in it I completely accept that you clearly have a problem with lemon and probably still would have even without any nic.

It doesn't change my opinion that nicotine still has to be the number one suspect as being the biggest probable cause of lung and throat soreness in most people.

Agreed i want too see medical facts on this rather than something that looks like was copied & pasted from gods nowhere with out facts

I should have said, apologies @MarylinC37 after the horrid time with Key Lime Pie at 3mg, I later tried it at Zero Nic and same result, so I now avoid that Brand's Key Lime :)
