What's new

Is my new Kayfun shafted already?

If the mvp couldn't read the resistance of the kayfun and the nemesis made everything go hot (as per op) then its clear that there was a fault which caused a short. Its unlikely to be anything else.

I did risk a quick test pulse on my nemesis, which was a big mistake as it started to get hot hot hot.

If you're referring to the nemesis when you say it got hot, then it sounds like a short.

Is there an intact insulator ring between the positive and negative contacts in the atty's connector?

i had a similar issue with my hcigar, constant short on my zmax. Checked coil etc all good, was about to return it, when I checked the 510 connection unscrewed and retightened a couple of times and it worked. Maybe work a go

My mvp won't read anything unless i stick it on a 510/ego adapter first. None of my attys reach the contact pin so i'm not surprised by this.

Had this on my 3.1 just undo the screw in the 510 connector a little
For some reason when it's screwed all the way in it shorts

With all due respect what concerns me is that you say " I'm pretty sure the coil wasn't a super low ohm job" Unless I have read this wrong, you should know exactly what resistance your coils are before using them on a PV. If it is getting hot then that does indicate a short, either that or as already mentioned ou have a bad connection on the pin.

To give the OP even more of a hard time - if the pin wasn't touching in the MVP it will read "NON" eg open ct
If there is a dead short it will read A0.0
To say the MVP couldn't read it is wrong as you will get some reading.

Could be that the positive terminal block twisted and shorted against the neg block, I had this on my 3.1 and boy does the atti and mod get hot quickly. Also it is possible that a bit of swarf has caused a short between the positive pin and the body of the atti, I have had this also, couldn't get a constant ohms reading, was up and down like a fiddlers elbow.

Yes, I'm an idiot, and have learned my lesson. Battery in the bin. However, I need to give a huge shout out to Rob from Vape Geek, who has been an absolute legend, replacing the melted plastic parts and even building me a very fine coil, all for an incredibly reasonable fee. A fine vendor who I shall recommend to anyone who will listen. Thanks!
