Kayfun chimney off centre

Hello everybody,

I received my hcigar kayfun clone last week. I have been quiet dissappear so far with the build quality. I know it's a clone but I read that hcigar's were good.

First of all the chimney is not central in the tank causing the top cap to be near impossible to fit. When I did manage to fit it, it wasn't sealing correctly and leaked. I installed a slightly larger oring and it solved that problem.

Once I solved that I noticed it wasn't wicking properly and found the juice channels were not fully machined. I ground out the juice channels with a dremel and it is now wicking fine with no leaks.

My problem now is when I install the Stainless steel tank section rather than the acrylic it is impossible to get the cap on due to the chimney not being inline.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so any idea how to fix it?

Appreciate your help!

Luck of the draw I think, I've had two HCigar Taifuns the 1st was immaculate, no problems, smooth threads sleeve/chimney slipped on and off easily and it's got a smooth draw.

The second one however was a complete donkey. The sleeve/chimney got stuck on it because the build deck was misaligned, the threads were rough, draw was a tight as a very tight thing and it went in the bin as the sleeve/chimney got completely stuck....

I suppose you'll need to find out the reason for the chimney being off centre.

Are the deck threads not perpendicular to the deck? if they are not then you'll never get the chimney central.

if you have some dodgy threading on either the cylindrical or tapered chimney sections then you should be able to rescue the atty by getting a replacement from somewhere (perhaps from the vendor?)

This isn't going to be much help to you, I'm afraid - but a word of caution for readers of this thread in the future. If you receive a piece of kit that doesn't live up to what it should, don't start mucking about with it. Contact the supplier before you do anything and see what can be done. Once you've started modifying it you've voided your warranty. :(

PS - this is not a dig at you at all jonnys90 - I would have done exactly the same as you. :)

By way of an apology for posting such grim stuff in your thread, would this be a solution?

I think it's the base that is off rather than the chamber so I may just have to order that base. Unfortunately it will take an age to arrive though.

Thanks for the help guys!

A good indicator of whether it's been badly machined, or that there is another reason for the misalignment is - Did it arrive assembled, and were all the parts fitting together properly when you unboxed?

I have 2 Kayfuns 1 original and other a very good clone from CLONED KAYFUN LITE PLUS V2 BY EHPRO - ANGELFIREMODS

I can honestly there is very little difference between them, I researched the clones for a few days and every review for the Hcigar was different. I would of sent it back or done a charge back.

Ah well its a bit late now haha. It was my first RBA and was dying to get going. Didn't want to wait for another one. I can now get the top cap on with a little fiddling and just fill from the fill port so I can at least use it.

Ordered another tank off FT so if it's not as good quality ill just install the new base to this tank. It was only a few dollars more than the new deck so just went for the full thing.
