I thought about posting on the mechanical mod part of the forum but I don't want to get too technical.

I have acquired a couple of mechanical mods and plan to move in this direction.
These are a dovpo signature clutch, and a dovpo sq topside.
I will probably put my wotofo profile ps running 0.15 ohm (half the 0.3x2) on the sq, and a steam crave with 0.15 mesh on the clutch initially, but have a few rba etc.
My very basic understanding is this works at 117 Watts
I have bought some molicel p42a s

Obviously I will be doing some more extensive research but find this works best for me done over a few days with pointers from you lot!
Even if its a "stop you idiot and read this"

Also I only really build mesh decks, I do have coils though, any reason to broaden my horizons or stick to what I know?

Could you expand a little for me please?
Just looking down at my screen on my dovpo topside dual, it says 77.5 w 3.42 v 0.15 ohm, with my wotofo profile ps.

Wondering as to why the difference

I do have coils so can build something though

No problem running mesh on mechs. Just keep the wick well juiced to prevent dry hits. I used to be wary but after trying it on various mechs/ mech squonkers no problem. As for the Profile PS it can be run in series so doubling resistance.

Mesh acts differently to coils. Due to the large surface area it cools down very quickly with air & juice flow. Although Steam Engine states 117w at 0.15ohm that's for a coil, mesh doesn't pull that high.

I'm not sure where the 117 Watts figure comes from - I suspect it may be how much power you can pull from a fully charged 35 Amp Samsung 30T if you try to absolutely push the Amp limits. Personally I wouldn't but I'm wary of pushing limits..

If you use a 0.15 Ohm build on a single 21700 mech with a fully charged 30T or Molicel P42a you will be pullling less than 30 Amps so you won't be overstressing the batteries (but they will still be working fairly hard so they will discharge pretty quick), but if the voltage drop to the 510 averages at 3.7V ish you will be getting something like a 90 Watt vape with a fully charged battery and it will gradually reduce as the battery discharges.

I don't vape mesh, I'd have dry hit qualms about a 90 Watt hit on any single strip of mesh and would go for regular coils. But I'm no mesh vaper so I'm just guessing on that one.

Edit - the penny just dropped lol. 117.6 Watts is what you would get from 4.2 Volts with a 0.15 resistance build. That is true, but with all mechs you will get voltage drop and battery sag - so only around 3.7V will actually get to the 510 on a decent single 21700 mech with a low ohm build - so you'll probably really be getting about 90.

I had a chat with MrJustRight1 about mesh & mechs when the OG Profile was released as he was using mechs. The watts pulled is similar to a throttled semi mech as was observed on the Dovo Pumper. That was hitting 10-15w lower than a mech in side by side testing, cooler than my usual 60w on a reg mod. The mech was hotter than the reg, not by much, but soon settled down to a reg mod like vape.

Would you vape your mesh coil over 100 watts?

Have you actually tried mesh on a mech? As for using 100w, a few people I know do vape around that power level on reg mods as it's what they like. On something like a Steamcrave Plus or Ragnar I push mesh higher than my usual 60w/Profile builds due to the extra airflow available.
