Looking at making the move to a mechanical mod but have no idea were to start! Read several posts about them and everyone seems to say that once you go mech you never go back, what makes them so special? At the moment I'm using a Provari which if you include the batteries cost around 200 quid, mech mods seem to be a fraction of the price so what makes them so much better. Can you make them vv/vw and if not how do you control the power. Like I said, I have no idea about them but very intrigued and wondering where to start:anyone: thanks

You can make them VV/VW with a kick however the appeal is one of 2 reasons to go sub ohm with your builds if you so wish but I would strongly advise buying a good 30a battery if you plan on doing that and there are no electroniccomponants to go faulty. At the end of the day it's a metal tube for a battery if the contacts are good then very little voltage drop but this varies mod to mod. You can buy a voltmeter to measure any voltage drop under load. Hope this helps ; )

Get a mech mod on fasttech for not more than £10 including postage, but looooong wait......

I got into RBA's and mech mods recently, and have now sold all my old protanks and VV devices. This is just personal opinion, but for me they look much nicer and you can get a fantastic vape when paired with a good rba. I bought clones to start with which range from about £20-40, my nemesis clone is by far the best, hits like a truck. They are incredibly easy to service as you can strip them down for cleaning etc without worrying about electronics and the like. Of course there are some dangers involved due to no control on power out put (apart from using a kick which limits the output), but in my opinion id say give it a go, you'll be amazed at how much better a vape you get.

You can get set-up for about £50 for a just a mech and atomizer, then you'll need wire, wick, batteries and a good charger. It's also advisable to get a OHM or multimeter to check Ohm's and battery volts.

The internet is a massive resource, I did loads of research before I took the plunge and was already building coils for my protank so had a fair idea of what to do.

TBH as long as your not aiming for crazy sub ohm builds, there pretty easy and stable to get up and running, just beware, you'll get the buying bug, I have now spent far too much money on different attis and mods :)

Thanks, already got a couple of atomizers in a Kayfun 3.1 and a Kayfun Kraken so already have the wicks, coil and ohm meter. I guess its time to go shopping again and I know exactly what you mean about the buying bug!!

No worries, i actually just ordered a stingray clone from vapoursaints, at the top price end for clones, but damn it looks good. From personal experience Id recommened ebay as a good start for a mech, just make sure to check feedback and ask the seller enough questions, such as clone manufacturer, then you can look at internet reviews on that one to see if its any copp, something like a hcigar nemesis as they are pretty well made and well priced.

Ditto on the stingray from vapoursaints, just one of the parcels delivered this morning !
Does look lush.
I think my vaping learning curve is about vertical at the mo. Bank account is going in opposite direction though :yahoo:

A nem clone is all you need for a starting point, from vapegeek or m-vapes to name but 2. I moved to mechs purely due to failures with the mvp and zmax.
