I have a drop too, love it. 20 wraps? What resistance is that please? As said above flat ni80 is excellent, I've got 20 wraps in my drop and the flavour is excellent
Looks nice, a lot of cotton to coil contact there, must be a great vape? Are you using batteries with a higher cdr than 20A?It's 25awg Flat Nichrome, comes in at 0.35ohm

Sorry everyone but I have one more question before I stop bugging you all for a while (I really am grateful for all your help).
From what I've learnt here, I shouldn't be drawing more than half of the cdr of my batteries, which gives me 10A to play with. If I use the recommended battery voltage, then I have 4.2V.
If R = V/A then my minimum safe resistance is 0.42ohms. Would this be correct?
Thanks
Ok thanks, yeah I think I'm going to need better batteries for sure. But for now that works out at 4.2/18 =.233 so I'd be ok as low as 0.3ohms?Why should you only be drawing half of your CDR?
Seeing as your only pulsing anyway surely it's pretty safe to go down to around 18 or 19 amps on a 20 amp cell.
Imo as long as you have followed all of your safety precautions a 0.3 coil on a 20 amp battery like a 25r is perfectly safe.
I would highly recommend VTC5A for mech's gives you a little bit more leeway as it's a 25 amp CDR.
Yep you are well within your CDR at 0.3 so as long as your cells are in good condition I will be fine.Ok thanks, yeah I think I'm going to need better batteries for sure. But for now that works out at 4.2/18 =.233 so I'd be ok as low as 0.3ohms?
I have some 26g Ni80 roundwire and I'm pretty sure I can put a single coil build in my drop, I think I'll give this a try first, thanks.Yep you are well within your CDR at 0.3 so as long as your cells are in good condition I will be fine.
While you are learning it's also worth feeling how hot your batteries are getting at 0.3 unless your taking massive drags or chain vaping non stop I'd bet your batteries will barely even get warm.
There's a website called steam engine that is very useful for battery calculations and even better for simulating coil builds.
As suggested above NI80 is an excellent choice for mech coils. Some prefer the flat variety but personally I find the standard 24awg round wire gives a fantastic vape on a mech squonk in a decent single coil RDA.
As said. Get yourself some brochrome from stealth vape.(flat nichrome) 24 awg . You can get a good seven wraps in and still come in at a safe 0.4 ohms which packs a punch vape and flavour wise plus keeps you in a safe place.I have some 26g Ni80 roundwire and I'm pretty sure I can put a single coil build in my drop, I think I'll give this a try first, thanks.
EDIT Forget that, just checked on steam engine and I'd only get 3 wraps before I was at 0.3ohms.
