Mech Squonk Advice Please.

My go to build on 22mm atties like the wasp, GR1, etc. lately is a SS alien 3mm, 4 wrap coil, around 0.2(ish). Bit lively at first, but soon settles down to a nice flavourful, very warm vape, just the way I like it :)
I've heard a lot about the wasp, is it one of the better single coil atties out there? Looking for a dedicated single coil job that's not too expensive.

I wouldn't say it's the very best, but £ for £ it's excellent value. Very airy wide open, but also a little loud as you close it down. It's pretty versatile really, with a few options for top caps. Good flavour, that matches quite a few of the big boys out there, but elitists may disagree (cos it's cheap).

It's the only build the drops had it in it so far and the flavour is awesome!! Definately worth a go :)

Still struggling to get decent flavour, tried 10 wraps Brochrome but the flavours very muted and takes a while to ramp up. Hats around 0.38ohms. Need to pre heat the coil for a couple secs then take a hit. I’ll take a wrap off each coil and work down.

Might drop the coil a bit so it’s in between the two top airholes. I think it’s a little high

This is mine, can't knock the flavour... running at 80w 0.37ohm 10 wrap 25awg Flat ni80

I'm using the brochrome now. 7 wrap single coil in the dead rabbit and it's not too bad. Just ordered a wasp nano as I think it will be a better companion for the Ram box mod.

Your wrong with your calculations your battery will charge to 4.2 volts and this needs using not 3.7
As soon as you attach a load (coil) to your 4.2v battery a current will flow and this will cause a voltage drop or sag. Typically if you could attach a voltmeter to a mech mod, it would show 4.2v before you press the button but whilst pressing the button it will drop, typically to about 3.7v. So to properly calculate the current flow at a certain resistance you would use something less than 4.2v and something nearer to 3.7v, dependant on the load resistance.

In addition to what @Cliffyboy1962 said, I would suggest you use 4.2 volts when using ohms law to calculate whether your build is safe for your battery (because it is the amps drawn from the battery that causes the voltage sag), but when using http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html to work out how to wrap your coil, aim for a build that has a heat flux of 200 mW/mm² with the "mod setting" at between 3.7 and 3.9 volts.

This is my current go-to single coil build for both the Hadaly and the Wasp, on a mech. 24g Nichrome flatwire, it's not a cloud chucker, but it gives a good flavoursome vape with good battery life (with a fully charged battery it pulls 8.4 amps at around 35 watts, so is good for a single battery squonker using a decent 3000 mAh battery like a 30Q or an HG2):

I use a very similar build in my single coil attys on a mech but 5 wraps instead of 7.

Gives a nice warm vape and holds on right through the battery discharge :)
