Mech Squonk Advice Please.

I use a very similar build in my single coil attys on a mech but 5 wraps instead of 7.

Gives a nice warm vape and holds on right through the battery discharge :)

Heh, I started at 6 wraps, found it a bit feisty on a fully charged battery, and vaped it down to 3.2 volts which worried me as when I pulled the battery to charge it I had almost over-discharged it, so I went up to 7 wraps, which vapes well (for me, at least), down to around 3.5-3.6 volts. So I can notice easily when it is time to change batteries.

I think I probably like a cooler vape than you. :D

Yes I do like it fairly warm but it all depends on airflow too I guess.

I've noticed too that on warmer coils I tend to take shorter 1 second drags but if I use a cooler coil 0.5- 0.6ish I will pull for much longer so it's swings and roundabouts on the battery life front.

I've never thought about the over discharging of battery though is 3.2 the minimum recommended drain then? I'm usually never far from a charger or fresh cell so I doubt I ever come close to that anyway but it's handy to know.

In addition to what @Cliffyboy1962 said, I would suggest you use 4.2 volts when using ohms law to calculate whether your build is safe for your battery (because it is the amps drawn from the battery that causes the voltage sag), but when using http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.html to work out how to wrap your coil, aim for a build that has a heat flux of 200 mW/mm² with the "mod setting" at between 3.7 and 3.9 volts.

This is my current go-to single coil build for both the Hadaly and the Wasp, on a mech. 24g Nichrome flatwire, it's not a cloud chucker, but it gives a good flavoursome vape with good battery life (with a fully charged battery it pulls 8.4 amps at around 35 watts, so is good for a single battery squonker using a decent 3000 mAh battery like a 30Q or an HG2):

So I'm using the correct build for flavour, just the wrong atty? The wasp will be here by the end of the week, really looking forward to trying it out.
