Mech Squonk Advice Please.

Looks nice, a lot of cotton to coil contact there, must be a great vape? Are you using batteries with a higher cdr than 20A?
I can't think of a build that has given more flavour than this one, but saying that it's the 1st and only build I've had in the drop so far.
I use Samsung 25r batteries and regulated mods, I haven't ventured far into the mech side of it yet but it is something I plan to do

Hi Apes, looking for advice /clarification please.
I've just bought my first mech squonk mod and wanted to check that I have an idea of what I'm doing.
First off, battery safety. Well I have brand new HG2's and they are in great condition obviously, but if I wanted to use others I believe they need to have the wraps intact, insulation in the right places and have no corrosion. Please advise if I'm missing anything.
Now for vaping. I've been using rda's, rba's for a while now and know how to build a coil, check the resistance and get rid of hot spots etc. But.... it's all about power usage, isn't it.
So I've checked and my batteries are rated at 3.7V with a cdr of 20A. If I use a twin coil build at 0.4 ohms this will draw 9.25A which is well within the cdr of 20A, if I go to 0.3ohms it will draw 12.3A. I hope I've got this right so please correct me if not.
How close to the 20A rating is it safe for me to go? And what can I do if I'm not satisfied with the vape? With a regulated mod I'd simply turn up the wattage or temperature along with altering airflow but I'm not sure what I can do with a mech device.
Sorry for the long post, I don't want to lose any fingers or any of my face so wanted to make sure I was on the right track.
Any and all advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Banjo.
What mech u using will it take a 20700? I struggled to get a satisfying vape when playing around with mech but found that using 20700 bat with 30 amp limit build of around 0.18 ni80 framed staple did the trick. 23amps on fresh bat so is within the limits. Single coils also help alot on single cell Mechs.

Hi, it's a Stentorian Ram and I believe it will only take 18650s, I'll just have to get better batteries I think.

As said. Get yourself some brochrome from stealth vape.(flat nichrome) 24 awg . You can get a good seven wraps in and still come in at a safe 0.4 ohms which packs a punch vape and flavour wise plus keeps you in a safe place.
Yes, you're the second person this week to recommend flat nichrome, I'll get some ordered today, thanks.

I have some 26g Ni80 roundwire and I'm pretty sure I can put a single coil build in my drop, I think I'll give this a try first, thanks.
EDIT Forget that, just checked on steam engine and I'd only get 3 wraps before I was at 0.3ohms.
You could always twist your 26g NI80 and that would make a great single coil vape :)

I've finally found the time to mess around a bit and currently have a single coil 5 wrap twisted 26g Ni80 at 0.39 ohms in and the vape is good, nothing special but good. I'll be experimenting with some 24g brochrome flatwire later and hopefully I'll get better results.
Thank you for your advice [emoji1303]

Sounds good I like a good twisted coil if the vape is not intense enough you could always remove a wrap and run a 4 wrap coil for more heat/vapor.

Another way to maximise the flavour/intensity of the vapor when using lower powered coils on mech's would be to invest in a smaller 22mm RDA. Personally I'm using a Narca RDA at the moment and the flavour and density of the vape even at 0.4 is truly amazing :)

Yeah, makes sense to use a smaller atomiser. Smaller chamber = more flavour. I'll have a look next payday, maybe a 22mm designed for single coil builds.

My go to build on 22mm atties like the wasp, GR1, etc. lately is a SS alien 3mm, 4 wrap coil, around 0.2(ish). Bit lively at first, but soon settles down to a nice flavourful, very warm vape, just the way I like it :)
