Micro coil help

It's something I've been pondering as I thought of the deluge of new vapers in the new year, I'll ask @KulrMeStoopid about the restrictions...

Yep they have access to everything on the website, it is just the forum for the first 10 posts, are limited to just the new users corner or help and feedback, and forum classies are restricted to 25 posts

ahh ok.. still for the begiiner the wiki is a pretty daunting place . maybe just some basic beginner info on a downloadable pdf would be good.
battery guide. clearos and cartos etc. could be split into 3 sections
beginner , intermediate and advanced vaping. beginner guide could just have some info on the different types of basic battery systems, egoc, spnners etc and the tanks that go with them, clearos, cartos, BDC etc,
intermediate could cover PV units, and VV, VW mods, mvps, svd, vamo kinda thing and the different battery sizes for them and the wider range of tanks and finally advanced covering mech mods, drippers and attys , wire and wick types, ohms and the like.

alot of work i know but maybe soemthing worth doing in the new year. more than happy to help and if its something you admins think worth doing could easily split it among a few willing people to put a section together.

Yeah about 7 wraps round a toothpic using .3 mm Kanthal works out around 1.3 ohms, I dont even torch them before I fit either anymore just pulse it red hot when Its fitted and quickly nip the coils together using a pair of tweezers, job done!

this seems to be a very common issue in regard to the confusion over kanthal with the AWG and mm sizes and getting them mixed up.
this is what i use pretty much all the time now

.32mm 28 AWG
essentially the thicker the wire the lower the AWG.
and sometimes when people say .32 and they are referring to the mm and you go out and get 32 AWG you end up with 0.20 mm wire which is bloody awful to use as its just to thin.

im sure in the wiki theres a chart... maybe we can collate some basic info in the beginner section all into one thread with some simple charts for the wire, wick , mesh ohms etc . I know it all can be found in the wiki but if its made available as part of the new members guidelines maybe as a pdf to download would be alot simpler.

Now i can see the problem it is mixing metric and imperial systems. Thank you all for the feed back and help

I use 6 wraps of .3 Kanthal around a 2.5 drill bit using cotton wool, gives me about 1.6ohms which gives me a nice smooth tasting vape after pinching

This has been a very helpful thread for me and sorted out some of the problems I have been having, cheers guys :2thumbsup:

Hmm, intersting and raises 1 question for me.
Big fan of mr tripper and he is 99% of the time using to wrap his coils 28 now i never really looked into the difference (and tbh have a coil at 1.4 that i am happy with its more a for future reference thing) is he referring to .28mm wire or 28awg ie .32mm wire

That's right. RT mainly uses 28awg. Ive tried them all now and I have to say that 28awg, 6 wraps at about 1.2 - 1.5ohms is my preferred smooth vape these days too.

Sent from somewhere in Kent.

Don't micro coil with .20mm wire you barely get any wick coverage unless you dual coil
